Our Verdict

Offers at these restaurant chains are showing in many/most Amex logins on MR-earning cards only. Pretty good offer, but you’ll want to keep the spend as close to $10 as possible. Should be able to split a $20 charge between two Amex cards as well.

It’s also a good time now to buy $10 gift cards at the restaurants for future purchases. Online gift card purchases won’t work, with the exception of Dunkin Donuts which allows loading the DD card online or via the app.

DP – bought 3 $10 GC at Dunkin standalone location and it did not trigger any Amex offer emails. I called Amex and they have to do an investigation.

Amex did give me the points after investigation. Just an extra steps to call in and ask.

I had an offer to get 100 points for using android pay with the dunkin donuts app. I used my American Express card in android pay and that triggered the congratulations email from American Express. It’s showing as a pending purchase from dunkindonuts.com in my account.

Can you just purchase $10 gift cards to qualify for the promotion for each restaurant?

I know that many Amex offers will work for the main account holder and the AU as long as the offer is added to both. But with this being a credit of MRs instead of cash, does anyone have experience with this still working? In other words, if maxing out the Panera offer on both cards, is it possible to net 3000 MRs?

If you don’t mind actually consuming Panera food once in a while, you’d probably do a lot better combining this offer with the Android Pay promotion (free You Pick Two after spending $10 through Android Pay), thus netting you 500 MR + You Pick Two (I usually redeem it for about $12 Panera value) for each $10 spend.

The Android Pay promotion is limit one per week though, and expires on 11/24/16.

Not sure how you combine them: the Amex Panera offer is valid in-restaurant and online, while the Android Pay promotion has to be done on the Panera App.

Did it not occur to you that the Panera app falls under ‘online’? After all, it’d be pretty useless for ordering food without an internet connection.

I wouldn’t have posted this if I hadn’t tried it myself anyway. I got the “Great News!” offer confirmation email from Amex approximately 5 hours after using my PRG for the Android Pay promotion.

Never understood how this is targeted. have multiple MR CC but ONLY ONE had Panera and everything else was also random with some CC having and not having the offers. sigh…

Had all 4 on my EDP but only had Panera and Dunkin Donuts on my Platinum. Like everyone else I’m going to buy a bunch of $10 gift cards and I’ll probably keep 1 DD and a Panera and then sell the rest.
