Our Verdict

Works out to be a 10% discount/rebate. Same as previous years but those were spend $250 and get $25 back. This offer usually comes up twice per year, once in the summer and once at year’s end. It’s from the more useful Amex Offers since Best Buy stores, and even bestbuy.com, sell numerous gift cards which make it easier to maximize the offer.

Check out this comprehensive post Everything you ever wanted to know about Buying Gift Cards at Best Buy to learn more about which gift cards to buy at Best Buy in-store or online. Options include $200 Visa gift cards for $205.95 (don’t think these are available anymore), eBay gift cards, gas gift cards, restaurant gift cards, and more. The options are slimmer online, but they do now have eBay and dining gift cards (Starbucks, etc.) online.

You can split up a charge with up to 10 different credit cards in Best Buy stores.

There aren’t any easy resell ideas here, but still useful for regular use at 10% off + points. And of course it could be useful for buying electronics too. Best Buy will usually match competitors prices so you can get a really good deal by adding this 10% off.

You can also get a $75 Best Buy gift card when you trade in any working laptop.

Buying three $200 BB Visa prepaid worked for me and I got the confirmation email from amex for the offer.

The thing is that I did not want to liquidate the whole $600 in BB Visa gift cards all at once at WM so I just did $200 for now to not confuse the cashiers. I’ll do the other $400 maybe at a neighborhood market where the lines seem shorter.

Arghhhhhhh, Amex got me! I signed up both my own and my AU’s cards. Made $300 VGC purchases with each, thinking I’d get 2x$30 statement credit. Only one statement credit is posted. The AU’s card still shows the offer unused. The terms state: “Limit 1 statement credit(s) per American Express(R) Card across all American Express offer channels.” Don’t I have an argument that the AU’s card should be considered a separate card, since it has its own card number? I do notice that most other Amex offers are worded differently, along the lines of “Limit 1 statement credit(s) per American Express acount.”

Note, that in the past this offer was cumulative; now as per the terms, the $300 needs to be in a single purchase.

Question, this offer seemed targeted to personal cards only. Did not get on all personal cards either, but no business cards.

Could this have been tweeted to business cards too? If so, I better get my a$$ in gear as missed a nice payday.

Thanks for your time.

I have a third party amex credit card linked to my twitter account. I twitted #AmexBestBuy as guided. How do I know the offer is already added to my account?

What does the below mean about limiting 1 statement credit per all Amex cards?

“Must add offer to Card and use same Card to redeem. Limit 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® Card across all American Express offer channels”

This was always there, and it means you only get 1 per card (can’t enroll on Twitter AND enroll on the website)
