The Fine Print

  • To qualify for $100 bonus, you must open a Checking Plus Account and be 18 years age or older and a brand new member with no existing account relationships with Arizona Federal, as determined by having a unique Social Security/tax identification number not on record with the credit union.
  • Former members may qualify as a new member if previous accounts were closed 12 or more months prior to new open date.
  • Bonus will be paid approximately 15 days after completing 10 debit card purchase transactions.
  • Debit card purchase transactions must be completed and posted to the new member’s account within 45 days of account opening. Transactions in a pending status do not qualify. All bonuses are considered income and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC. This promotion cannot be combined with any other offers. Limit one new member bonus per person. Business, indirect borrower, fiduciary, non-dues/voting accounts do not qualify. Only Arizona Federal members in good standing qualify for this program. Terms and conditions subject to change without notice. Offer may expire at any time.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

Account has a $3 monthly fee, this is waived with 10 debit card transactions.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find the fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is an early account termination fee

Our Verdict

Bonus itself looks easy to meet the requirements for, we still need to know if there is any monthly fee and if it’s a soft pull to open. If there is no monthly fee (or it’s easy to keep fee free) and it’s a soft pull then this looks worth doing.

Did this bonus last year and the is a $3 monthly fee that can only be waived by using your debit card 10 times per month like Wells Fargo, but at the end of the year you get a share bonus for being with the credit union my share bonus was $35 ish so I’ve kept it open for money order deposits when I MS.

Was there a hard pull when you opened the account?

Yes there was a hard pull for me but not my brother who also opened one and you can find up to $100 I used my Chase freedom unlimited

Stretchistall Stretch, does the my share bonus depend on how much you keep in the account?

Not at all I kept like $20 in there and the share bonus was $35 ish so that’ll cover monthly fees on the account. I mainly use this account for money order purposes since I haven’t had issues depositing with them

I just opened an account and funded with a Citi AA MasterCard. I set the cash advance limit to $0 and was able to fund for $200 (the maximum). The category for the pending transaction shows as ‘Mortgage Companies-Financial Institution’. Tried with a Visa gift card at first and it would not take it. I have all bureaus frozen and was able to open the account.

Anoyone who doesn’t have Bureaus frozen can report if it was a hard pull?

Donthe debit card transactions need to be of a certain amount? >$1.00?

@Parts Unknown the requirements do not state that there is a minimum, the only requirement is that they must be completed and posted to the new member’s account within 45 days of account opening. Transactions in a pending status do not qualify.

Looks like the Fee Schedule is here — https://www.arizonafederal.org/download/00US-RATE.pdf — I didn’t see any mention of an ETF.

This makes it sounds like more than just debit card transactions can be used to waive the fee

1 Qualifying transactions to waive $3 monthly Checking Plus fee include debit/credit card purchases, ACH deposits and withdrawals (e.g., direct deposit, automatic bill pay), and checks written and cleared from your account.
