The Offer
- Arizona Federal Credit Union is offering a bonus of $100 when you open a new checking account and complete the following requirements:
- Use promo code PHXRISING
- Complete 10 or more debit card transactions within 45 days of account opening
The Fine Print
- To qualify for $100 bonus, you must open a Checking Plus Account and be 18 years age or older and a brand new member with no existing account relationships with Arizona Federal, as determined by having a unique Social Security/tax identification number not on record with the credit union.
- Former members may qualify as a new member if previous accounts were closed 12 or more months prior to new open date.
- Bonus will be paid approximately 15 days after completing 10 debit card purchase transactions.
- Debit card purchase transactions must be completed and posted to the new member’s account within 45 days of account opening. Transactions in a pending status do not qualify. All bonuses are considered income and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-MISC. This promotion cannot be combined with any other offers. Limit one new member bonus per person. Business, indirect borrower, fiduciary, non-dues/voting accounts do not qualify. Only Arizona Federal members in good standing qualify for this program. Terms and conditions subject to change without notice. Offer may expire at any time.

Account has a $3 monthly fee, this is waived with 10 debit card transactions.
Early Account Termination Fee
I wasn’t able to find the fee schedule so I’m unsure if there is an early account termination fee
Our Verdict
Bonus itself looks easy to meet the requirements for, we still need to know if there is any monthly fee and if it’s a soft pull to open. If there is no monthly fee (or it’s easy to keep fee free) and it’s a soft pull then this looks worth doing.

Few things to note: Use FREE as code when openeing up the account
***It says bonus is available in AZ only but this may be partially true. I am in NV and could buypass the AZ requiremetnt by making $15 donation (I will find the name and website and post it shortly.
***During application after entering my address, I received a message that I am not in AZ and should call the customer service phone number provided. I called the number and the rep told me that I was not in AZ so I told her that I made $15 donation. She approved my applicaiton in the next 30 seconds for me to proceed further.
Application process went smooth and received the $200 bonus today.
Same result on bonus. Received the debit card on Saturday. Did 10 transactions on Sunday. $200 bonus on Monday.
Account was opened with a soft pull I can confirm. Don’t seem to be Chex sensitive given I’m at LOL/24.

Easy to acquire. Don’t know why I had to ask them about it but they immediately rectified it. Thanks DoC.

4/11/19 Did not receive the $100 Bonus (15 days after completing requirement).
4/15/19 Sent SM asking about the $100 Bonus
4/16/19 Received SM asking for name of the promotion.
4/16/19 Sent reply with the promo name (PHXRISING) and screen shot.
4/16/19 Rec’d SM saying since the Promo Code was not put in, it would be manually entered and I’d see bonus either tomorrow or the day after.
4/17/19 Received $100 Bonus
Any idea yet if we can open in one month, make all 10 debit purchases, get the bonus, then close it without penalty?
Another avenue to get an account, online, out of state:
“If your family is immediate family (mom, dad, brother or sister) and they have an account with us we can proceed with the account opening we would just need their name, address and account number.”
I cancelled the application.
3/17/19 I opened an account, received instant account number and instant access to logging in.

I received instant access/account number, How long does it take for it to show up on the credit report? Then, I can ck.
I did not receive a hard pull.
Opened account 3/11. Initial funding of $200 with CFU. No hard pull. Will keep posted about bonus.
