Bakkt Closing App, Converting To ‘Web Experience’

Bakkt has announced that on March 15, 2023 the Bakkt app will be shutting down. An e-mail has been sent out to users that have linked their Wyndham account stating:

Because you’ve linked your Wyndham Rewards account to the Bakkt® app, we’re writing to let you know that the Bakkt app will be going away. As a result of these changes, March 15, 2023 will be the last day to earn, redeem, buy, or pay with Wyndham Rewards points through Bakkt. You can read more about these upcoming changes at Bakkt.com/Bakkt-App.

We remain committed to ensuring that Wyndham Rewards members enjoy a rewarding loyalty program. You can still redeem your Wyndham Rewards points for gift cards and merchandise, and at thousands of hotels, vacation club resorts, and vacation rentals worldwide. And don’t forget, you can earn points on everyday purchases like shopping—plus, local tours, experiences, and so much more.

Bakkt has more information on their website.

Bakkt is still operating, and their website still let me sell BTC a few days ago.
There was an article a couple weeks ago saying they might be running out of money, though they then raised more money: https://cointelegraph.com/news/bakkt-approved-shelf-offering-going-concern-cash-bleed

 William Charles  Chuck

I found an amusing extra play here for $10…

I submitted a privacy request to delete all of my personal information, and Bakkt said they could not do that unless I zeroed out my account that still had a residual balance of some tens of cents from doing the Wyndham deal you guys had posted. Problem is, you cannot withdraw less than $10 because Bakkt sucks, so when I pointed that out, they simply deposited $10 to my account so that I could withdraw the $10.xx that was now there.

Worked for P1 & P2. Thanks for the extra $20, Bakkt! I’m not sure if they have to honor the deletion request for people outside of CA (I live in CA), but it’s worth a shot.

What do you guys use Bakkt for? I signed up a while back and haven’t seen anything interesting deals since the Wyndham points.

They had a couple small crypto bonuses last year, like buy $25 ETH get $10 ETH free, buy $50 BTC get $15 BTC free. But yeah, besides those things I don’t use them. Not sure if depositing from debit card was useful for anyone (I never tried it).

Friendly reminder to withdraw any free crypto they offered over the past few years. Sadly, no transferring to cold storage, only selling to cash/ACH withdraw.

They say you’ll still be able to buy/sell crypto, just it’ll be on their website instead of the app. (So I don’t think there’s a rush to sell/withdraw soon.)
