Barclays Lufthansa Miles & More Increased Sign Up Bonus Of 60,000 Miles

The Offer

Direct link to offer (scroll down to Welcome Bonus under terms & conditions to see the bonus mentioned)

  • Barclays is offering an increased bonus on the Lufthansa Miles & More credit card of up to 60,000 miles. Bonus is broken down as follows:
    • 20,000 miles after first purchase
    • An additional 40,000 miles after $5,000 in spend within the first 90 days

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $89 (waived for Senator and HON Circle Members, as long as they maintain their Senator or HON Circle Member status)
  • Free annual companion ticket after annual fee is paid and on card anniversary
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2 miles per $1 spent on all miles & more integrate partners
    • 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Free FICO score
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Two Lufthansa Business Lounge vouchers annually (note despite the name Business is their lowest class of lounge, senator is higher and 1st is their highest class of lounge)
  • 0% Introductory APR for 15 months

Our Verdict

Highest bonus is normally 50,000 miles (same break down but 30,000 miles for spending $5,000 instead of 40,000 miles with this offer). Keep in mind Barclays has increased bonuses on the Arrival+ & Wyndham cards currently as well, plus a targeted bonus with Uber.

Not sure if the 6/24 rule is applied to this card or not. I’d also recommend reading our post on things you should know about Barclays before applying. You can view the Lufthansa award chart here to see how far 50,000 miles will take you.

Has anyone in the US found a reliable way of actually using the companion ticket benefit? According to the T&C, both revenue and companion tickets “must be booked in either H, M, Y & B class.” As far as I can tell, this limits you to the most expensive economy class tickets – I was quoted about $3k for a roundtrip to Germany.

Looks like 6/24 applies. I pulled the trigger on this, since I’m an expat living in Germany, and travel LH enough that it matters.

Had a 10-day notice when I applied, and immediately afterward when I checked on the online status a “Unable to offer…” appeared.

I called and talked to a very nice CSR who immediately said it was denied due to an internal policy that could not be overridden of “too many recent accounts.” I asked what “too many” meant, and she said “There’s no fixed number, but anything above 6 starts to raise questions.” I’m 13/24, so I guess it was enough over the limit.

Good luck to all those that can get it!

This is a solid offer.

Has anyone ever booked USA-FRA-BKK-SYD F award for 105k with Miles & More?

I really wonder of they allow it, the chart says (select routes)… whatever that means…

USA-FRA-BKK itself cross three zones so would go to the 3 zone award of 140k
