It says you’re eligible if you live or work in one of the selected counties/cities. Do they make you show proof of where you work you’re trying to get in based on where you work instead of where you live? If yes, has anyone found a union/association with a cheap membership? I see Humane Society Silicon Valley has a $10 minimum donation, but it’s not clear if you’re considered a member for anything below the $1,000 donation level. https://secure.hssv.org/donate/visionaries-circle-and-presidents-circle

William Charles Chuck Great news! For a limited time, Provident is doubling the Referral Bonus into $100 both for Referrer and Referee.
Link: https://www.referlive.com/MemberPortal

And P2 did manage to stack the Referral bonus on top of the $300.
So if you sign up now, the checking bonus will be as sweet as $400.
Anyone who needs a referral feel free to request one from me: lafeir.lew @ gmail dotcom

Very smooth experience for me:

1/12/22 – Account Opened with $25 opening deposit
2/09/22 – $500 External Push In from Chase Checking account, successfully qualified as DP
Feb 22 – Completed $400 of debit card spend
3/03/22 – $500 External Push In from Chase Checking account, successfully qualified as DP
Mar 22 – Completed $400 of debit card spend
6/03/22 – $300 New Account Bonus posted (exactly 3 months after last debit card purchase)
7/07/22 – Transferred all remaining balance out back to personal account (since no minimum balance is required, no monthly fees)

Since I used someone’s referral link when signing up, I also received a $100 Visa reward card in the mail, great easy bonus!

The most important question anyone hasn’t asked yet, “Have direct deposits or automatic credits of at least $500”.

I am assuming that ACH deposits will count towards the $300 bonus?

Matty Rex

Jun I was skeptical but an ACH does meet the requirement, no DD required. In the Provident app it has a good system to monitor your progress towards the bonus (much like First Tech FCU) and I have met the “1 or more ACH direct deposit or debit” requirement with my ACH push from Discover Savings.

The app also posts the detailed DD/ACH terms:

Have at least 1 Direct Deposit OR ACH credit/debit per statement cycle.
Direct Deposits from payroll or Social Security that go electronically and directly to your account are a few examples.
ACH Credits can be direct payments or transfers from accounts you own at other financial institutions.
Examples of ACH Debits are your PG&E or utility payments that are charged directly to your account.
Electronic Bill Payments processed through Provident’s Bill Pay service are also qualified.
Always provide your Super Reward Checking account number and Provident Credit Union’s routing number when setting up these ACH transactions.

Where in the app is that?

Edit: N/M, I see it now.

> Make purchases of $400 or more using a Provident debit and/or credit card215 for two consecutive months, starting the month following your checking account opening

Does that mean a spend of $800 is needed? ($400 per each month for 2 months?)

Same question. My thought is 400 for 2 months is needed.

Wonder if there is a good way to manufacture the 400$ spend.

Yes, it is clear in the app that it is a monthly requirement to have “$400 or more in Visa card purchases.”

What counts toward the purchases?
Close
Point-of-Sale transactions, over-the phone or online payments wherein you provide your Provident Debit or Credit Card number.
ATM transactions are not qualified.
Debit card cash-back amounts and cash advances on credit cards do not count towards qualifications.
Only one Visa credit card can have its purchases count towards your qualifications each month (whichever one that is selected on the account on the last business day of the month).
