Capital One Partners With Resy

Capital One & Resy have announced a new partnership. For those not familiar Resy is a restaurant reservations app, mostly focusing on high end/hard to get a table at restaurants. As part of this partnership all capital one cardholders will get access to two new benefits:

Reservations For Two At Peak Times At ‘Top’ Restaurants

Ability to book a table for two on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights at some restaurants in New York City, Washington D.C. & Austin. The restaurants are:

  • New York City: Charlie Bird, Frankies 457, Legacy Records, Loring Place, Pasquale Jones and Quality Eats (two locations)
  • Washington D.C.: A Rake’s Progress, All Purpose (two locations), Masseria and Red Hen
  • Austin: Kemuri Tatsu-ya, Odd Duck, Pitchfork Pretty and She’s Not Here

Off-Menu Week Early Access

Cardholders will be given the ability to make reservations for off menu week 72 hours before the general public.  Off-menu week aims to be a better version of restaurant week, rather than focusing on prix fixe menus they will focus on experimenting and trying new and unique dishes.  Dates are as follows:

  • Los Angeles: Monday, February 25th, 2019 to Sunday, March 3rd, 2019
    • Reservations live for Capital One cardholders 1/24/19, reservations live to public 1/28/18
  • Washington D.C.: Monday, April 8th, 2019 to Sunday, April 14th, 2019
    • Reservations live for Capital One cardholders 3/7/19, reservations live to public 3/11/19
  • San Francisco: Monday, June 17th, 2019 to Sunday, June 23rd, 2019
    • Reservations live for Capital One cardholders 5/16/19, reservations live to public 5/20/19
  • New York City: Monday, September 16th, 2019 to Sunday, September 22nd, 2019
    • Reservations live for Capital One cardholders 8/15/19, reservations live to public 8/19/19
  • Chicago: Monday, October 21st, 2019 to Sunday, October 27th, 2019
    • Reservations live for Capital One cardholders 9/19/19, reservations live to public 9/23/19
  • Austin: Monday, December 9th, 2019 to Sunday, December 15th, 2019
    • Reservations live for Capital One cardholders 11/7/19, reservations live to public 11/11/19

Final Thoughts

I’m not familiar enough with the Austin/D.C/NYC dining markets to know how difficult it is to get a table at any of those restaurants to be honest. I think the off menu week stuff is interesting, how useful being able to book 72 hours in advance will really depend on how quickly tickets sell out. It’s nice to see Capital One adding new benefits and trying something new though and it seems like they are focused on dining especially after the introduction of the Capital One Savor & Capital One SavorOne cards.

Those NYC restaurants are not hard to get reservations for at all. I randomly checked the app for next week (Thu and Fri), and tables are still available between like 6 – 8PM

Kemuri Tatsu-ya, Odd Duck, and Pitchfork Pretty are all easy to walk in on any regular day for a party of 2. And I wouldn’t call Kemuri a top restaurant in anything but mediocrity. Odd Duck and Pitchfork Pretty are both excellent, though.

Not sure about She’s Not Here since it’s relatively new and I haven’t been.

Frankies 457 isnt even the best italian food in NYC and its in brooklyn far from any public transport. Fragole is also better and in a more convienent location.

Fragole > frankies

6 restaurants for NYC? This is fair at best- good restaurants but not mind blowing at all.

In DC, Masseria is a very high end Italian tasting menu restaurant. A Rake’s Progress is new and buzzy in a Line hotel. All Purpose is decent pizza that I don’t understand the popularity of. Red Hen is a good Italian restaurant with pastas in an extremely gentrified neighborhood.

This looks like a good benefit. Capitol One cardholders in DC also get some benefits around access to the sports arena where basketball and hockey are played, since Cap One owns the naming rights. It used to be The MCI Center!

I was able to get a Saturday night 7:30 reservation at Red Hen through this promotion whereas otherwise the only reservations available were at 10 and 10:30.
