We previously reported on the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex 5x categories for the final quarter of 2026. Surprisingly, in activation emails, Chase is revealing the 5x categories for the first quarter of 2027 as well:
- Grocery
- Top Streaming Services
It’s surprising that they’re releasing this info early. Also surprising that they’re doing Grocery for two consecutive quarters – Q4 2026 (our original post link) and Q1 2027.
Regardless, it’s hard to complain when Grocery is an eligible category since that’s always a favorite. Even if you don’t spend much at grocery stores (e.g. you do your grocery shopping at wholesale clubs, Walmart, or Target), you can still buy a gift card at the grocery and use it for gas, retail, or even a Visa gift card to use anywhere.
