Chase Freedom Unlimited 30,000 + 2,500 Point Offer, In Branch & YMMV

Reposting this because more people have reported being targeted for this offer without being CPC when checking for pre-approved offers.

The Offer

Update: People who aren’t CPC have also reported receiving this offer.

  • Reddit user artgriego & US Credit Card Guide are reporting that some people are being targeted for the following offer on the Chase Freedom Unlimited:
    • $300 cash back (really 30,000 Chase UR points) after $500 in spend
    • $25 cash back (really 2,500 Chase UR points) after adding an authorized user and them making their first purchase

Asking To Be Matched

We saw a similar offer in branch on the Chase Sapphire Preferred. As long as you applied in the branch within the last 90 days I imagine you’ll be approved for a match.

Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • Card earns 1.5x points on all purchases

Our Verdict

Normal sign up bonus is $150 + $25, so this is basically a double bonus. It sucks that the Chase 5/24 rule applies to this card. It might be worth going in branch and checking to see if you have any pre-approved offers, even if you don’t have one of the increased bonus offers (I believe these are actually restricted to CPC) you could apply for the card and then asked to be matched but there is obviously no guarantee it will work. The upside is that if you’re pre-approved in the branch then that usually by-passes the Chase 5/24 rule, any questions you have about that will be answered here.

If you have any questions about Chase in general, they will be answered here. If anybody knows of any other increased sign up bonuses in branch, please let us know in the comments below!

I was recently targeted for an offer on the new Chase Ink product via emal. Does this mean I can get around 5/24?

  2. Joe says:

I got my Chase Freedom Unlimited the week before they started doing referrals (so I wasn’t able to “gift” someone a referral on one of the referral threads)

Now they’re doubling the bonus? I feel as if I should’ve waited.

  3. Mona says:

I have a freedom unlimited (converted my chase sapphire to this card). Do I need to convert it back before applying for a FU in branch?

    Thank you!

  4. Dave says:

I went in branch on Friday afternoon to get this card. I got the $150 offer, as expected. Now I find I could have waited 24 hours for twice as much? Ugh.

    • Ryan says:

Send an SM and they will most likely match this offer for you. Lots of DPs suggest this.

      • Dave says:

The offer rewards you with $150.00 bonus when you spend
$500.00 on purchases in the first 3 months on your Freedom
Unlimited account. In order to match this offer on your
existing Freedom Unlimited account, please reply to this
email with the Offer Code and Invitation Number that were
included on the direct mail offer that was addressed to
you. Once we receive your reply, we will be happy to
submit the request to update the rewards on your account.
If you were not the recipient of the mailing, we will be

  5. Dojo says:

Sorry but it’s “pre-approved in the branch” or “in-branch pre-approval”. “Pre-approved in branch” sounds odd and not in line with current English standards.

  6. John says:

Does these increased offers have an expiration date?

  7. Jan B says:

Willing to go to a branch to do this. SO, if I have had a Freedom before (closed now), I can apply for the bonus with this Freedom Unlimited and assuming all other credit criteria alright, I should be ok, as in approved WITH bonus?

    • Jan B says:

      Oh, wait, sorry.

Not sure how the targeting is being applied? Mail, email, Chase FB page, etc? I mean I don’t know what the Chase targeting methods are.

I do know I should be eligible to open a new checking or savings account in January with Chase again. I seem to qualify for CPC runner-up status in the branch which puts me in the office with the CPC rep if I am not just there for teller services. I guess it couldn’t hurt to prod the guy with some questions about CPC benefits while he looks at my profile.

  8. Jim says:

Asked to be matched and they said I have to have an offer code even though I mentioned I’m CPC and applied in branch. If I can’t produce an offer code, they said they will not match. Anyone know what it is?

  9. Vince says:

The person linked about receiving the offer while not being CPC deleted their post. Is there any updated data points on this?

  10. RightNYer says:

I’d be curious to know too

  11. Kevin says:

This is one hell of a bonus!

  12. Adam says:

any reports of this showing up via the new chase website offers for you dealio? since that bypasses 5/24 & sometimes shows higher offers too. just trying to think of alternatives if you never get any pre-approvals in branch due to having lots of cards lol.

  13. NYC Churner says:

Applied for the standard $150 offer in branch in January. On requesting a match via SM, was told that the offer was not available on my account. Appears to be targeted.

  14. ikaveh says:

    2 DPs:
Me and my friend checked in branch today…
I was pre-approved for the 30k offer…I have Normal Freedom and CSR. I am NOT CPC.
My friend did not have the offer…He only has Normal Freedom.

I do not think I still would like to apply for itbecause typically I should be able to get a higher bonus on a sign up card. Plus I evetually need to Downgrade my CSR and dont want to have 2 CFUs down the road!
    Any suggestionDoC?

  15. J T says:

Traveling and staying near a Chase branch, so I checked for pre-approvals, but had none.

My DP (why I’m not likely targeted for additional credit):
not CPC or a deposit customer with Chase
7 cards open including a business card
last card opened Jan ’17 and required a recon call and CL reallocation

  16. Lantean says:

I can confirm this still works, I just got it.
massive credit line too… not sure why Chase loves me so much.

I was also pre-approved for CSP but only 50k offer, not the 70k offer… so I passed. Even tho the banker said I could get two cards on the same day if i want to (not sure about this).
