chase marriott

Card Details

  • Must apply by May 3rd
  • Annual fee of $85, not waived
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 5x points per $1 spent at Marriott & Ritz Carlton locations
    • 2x points per $1 spent on airline tickets purchased directly with the Airline, at car rental agencies and at restaurants
    • 1x points per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • Anniversary bonus of a free night certificate for a category 1-5 property.
  • 15 credits towards Elite membership after approval and every year after account anniversary
  • 1 elite credit for every $3,000 spent
  • This product is available to you if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months
  • Chase’s 5/24 rule does apply to this card

Our Verdict

Previous best bonus (thanks to our handy spreadsheet) is 80,000 points for $3,000 spend with the AF & authorized user the same (there is also a 150,000 point bonus but this requires $30,000 in spend). This is an extra 20,000 points for $2,00 spend (10x per $1 spent) so I think the 100,000 offer is better. Unfortunately most people will no be eligible for this card due to the Chase 5/24 rule.

Keep in mind these points also transfer to SPG at a rate of 3:1, so this bonus would be worth 30,000+ SPG points. There is also a sign up bonus of 35,000 SPG points on the American Express personal & business SPG cards. You can see what we think is the best use of SPG/Marriott points by clicking here, we also compare SPG Nights & Flights Vs Marriott Flight & Hotel Packages.

If you applied for the lower 80,000 point Marriott bonus in the last 90 days some readers have been successful in getting matched, please share your data points in the comments below. As always, before applying for any Chase cards make sure you read through the list of things you should know.

There is also a direct link, I suspect this will work even if you’re not targeted but the bonus isn’t mentioned on the application page so YMMV. Will update as datapoints come in if it works or not.

Thanks to all the readers that sent in this offer, too many to name individually (sorry!)

Used a referral link to sign up at 80k point offer and asked to be matched to 100k offer now that I had 5k spend on the card. They said the 100k offer is no longer valid.

I usually ask for a match while the promotion is still going, even if I haven’t met the spending requirements. Chase usually responds by affirmation and asking to reply to the message once spending has been met. After meeting the spending requirements, I again reply to the same message to honor the previous commitment.

FYI this is officially a public offer now – https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/marriott-premier. Unknown end date, but my guess would be ~May 3.

Might be worth adjusting the title & republishing?

re: end date. On the other hand, unlike the United MileagePlus Explorer, this is NOT indicated as a special offer. Perhaps it is a new standard offer?

I’ve seen a couple of DPs on /r/churning daily blog that someone with 20/24 getting past the 5/24 rule. They said they had to call recon line tho

I was just perusing that! Unfortunately, it looks like the exceptions are _extremely_ isolated* (less than 1:20 success) based on the two threads currently going https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/6189ur/daily_discussion_thread_march_24_2017/dfdm76z/ & https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/61f173/daily_discussion_thread_march_25_2017/dfe07to/.

In particular, I do not believe bawceofsawce’s post because he was denied for 5/24 and recon’d (https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/6189ur/daily_discussion_thread_march_24_2017/dfdnnyo/?context=3). I am skeptical because I’ve never seen a single DP of reconsideration being possible for 5/24 denials (representatives literally can’t override it).

I was not targeted originally after the offer dropped I logged into my Marriott account and all I had was the 80,000 point offer. But, today I went into my account and I had the 100k offer. I am at 4/24 so this will be my last Chase card for awhile!

Applied for 80K offer in January, asked for a match today via SM and was told to email back after the $5K spend is met and they will match.

Approved on 2/2, received the 80k already, and was just matched through SM request. Told to send another SM when I have met the additional spend. Have not stayed in a Marriott property in over three years (some were speculating this was a requirement to be matched.)

Got an email inviting me to apply for this offer but I’m over 5/24, wonder if I can go in branch and see if there’s a pre approval for me, I doubt it since the last time I was in there, I applied for the sapphire preferred and was approved back in Nov.

DP: Applied/approved for the 80k/3k offer 3/9. SM’d yesterday about being matched. Was told yes and to SM back after the new spend is done. No Marriott stays between. Only had around $300 toward spend already(just got the card itself 3/18).

The regular card gives you 80,000 points after spending only $3,000. But you don’t have to pay any AF until after a year.
With the 100,000 offer you pay $85 up front AF. So you are basically paying $85 for 20,000 Marriott points. And you also need to spend $5,000 in order to get those 100,000 points.
So if you value 20,000 Marriott points at $85 and can spend $5,000 in 3 months then this is the offer for you.

I don’t think that’s correct unless there’s another offer — the annual fee is not waived on the current public offer of $80k points. So it’s an extra $2k spend for 20k points which is pretty great. (However, were there a difference in annual fee, that would really kill this offer.)

I guess I’m out of touch with Chase products after the 5/24. The Hyatt AF is used to be waived the first year. And the spending requirement was $1,000 but now is $2,000.
The IHG AF is waived the first year.
I never got the Marriott card but I thought the AF was waived.

One of my friend applied last Tuesday and received the card today. She didn’t receive the 100K offer email but successfully got matched tonight after I sent her the screenshot of this offer I got.
