Chase Wrongly Denying Applications Due To IP Address (U.S. Economic Sanctions) [Resolved For Some]

Update 9/8/22: Some people have had their applications approved that were previously denied. Hat tip to reader BAS

Recently there has been an issue where Chase has been denying credit card applications due to the applicant applying from an IP address located in a country or territory subject to U.S. economic sanctions. The issue is that the applicants have been applying from states such as Texas, Oregon, Arizona & California.  All of the datapoints so far are for business cards, but it’s not clear if it’s affecting personal cards as well.

P2’s got auto-denied but no letter, no application pending when calling the recon number, no app pending when checking online…the inquiry is there in the reports, so i know I’m not crazy…but there’s no evidence of the app and no new card 🙁

After getting nowhere with phone reps I gave up but today I got the email that I was approved from my first application a few weeks ago. Now I wonder what will happen with my second application a week after (at the recommendation of the phone reps)?

Just checked and P2’s card that was previously denied for IP issue is now in online profile. So appears Chase is retroactively correcting this issue.

Anybody having issue using a referral for chase business card ? I tried many links (P2 and others, fresh and old), same result, “Offer Unavailable” when I click on Apply now (via desktop or via mobile)

Well are yall Trump supporters or get banned on Facebook or on a watch list? Trying to find a connection with chase bank cause they took my first payroll check mobile deposit and closed my account after I took the check to 2 different branches to show then the check. Couldn’t verify maker. Won’t verify maker is what they did. I got all kinds of damages and had state attorney General contact them. 5 weeks they had my funds. Was doing background check for another employer and now they won’t talk to me. Did chase put me on a fraud list that wasn’t fraud? They closed my checking account and tried to keep the $1300 I deposited as suspended even though b of a honored the check. Anyone want class action lots of others are getting shafted by chase.

Two more data points:
1. Connecticut, declined for IP issue. (CIU)
2. Pennsylvania, instantly approved. (CIC)

Makes sense these 4 states on west being sanctioned .
Texas and Arizona is extremely one side of politics while Oregon and California on the other.
People in swing states should consider themselves lucky.
