You know, it used to be one got rewards. Period. Now there are shop your way points, thank you points etc. Too confusing. I need something simple and to the point. If you want people to use the card, give them coupons! Not all this online crap, and the sales clerks can’t even tell you ANYTHING, unless you give a member number or whatever. They couldn’t find my info last time in the store because I couldn’t give them a member number and my phone numbers didn’t show up in their system. But I can find them myself online so what gives?! Truly looking around for another card.

So it’s kinda like letting you buy Sears gift cards at a discount of 16.7% (e.g., get $120 Sears points for $100 thankyou points). But SYWR points expire, so it’s not as good as gift cards. Sears gift cards are often available at a discount (e.g., recently on ebay at 12% off), so this isn’t that great of a deal, but maybe useful for some people.

Splitting hairs — SYWR reduce your taxable sale amount when you make a purchase so $100 worth of SYWR is worth $110 for me with 10% sales tax here. 🙂

1.2 cents per point versus 1.25 for all flights when the rules change – not a bad addition. Good for re-sellers that have the 3x citi card too.

So a 50k signup bonus is worth $6,000 of Sears merchandise. Wow. That seems totally broken to me.

Is there a way to redeem the SYW points as straight cashback?

$600 not $6k. SYW points are only worth .1 cents or $.001

Put another way, it’s 1000 SYW = $1

But you can still purchase a lot of math books for that money.

Unfortunately there are no amount of points that can buy humility.
