Club Carlson Tiered Stay Bonus – Up to 120,000 Points (Stay 30 Nights)

This offer is supposed to be targeted, but as far as I can tell it is not. Some Club Carlson members should’ve received e-mails about this offer; I received this offer via a Facebook ad, and successfully registered despite my email for Facebook not being tied to my email for my Club Carlson loyalty account. Reddit user Lzypenguin was also able to successfully sign up without being targeted.

Our Verdict

Club Carlson points aren’t worth nearly enough to do a mattress run for this offer, and the requirements to earn the tiered bonuses are pretty steep.

While this offer is thus mostly useless, it could come into play if you’re planning a stay or staying on an employer’s dime. The first tier of 5 nights / 10,000 points is decently achievable, and can make for a nice bonus if a Club Carlson hotel is a good option.

Tier 2 hotels are readily available and are the niche Club Carlson does best. In a cat 2 points are generally worth 0.43 to 0.70 cents each. If you can find a cat 1 hotel points are worth 0.55 to 1.10 cent each. 2000 points is then worth at least $8 toward a cat 2 hotel. Definitely not worth going out of your way. However, if these awards are given for hotels that charge $5 fees for points bookings, $8 might be a nice bonus and the $5 spending. Couple this with the fact that the Club Carlson Credit card is definitely a keeper with the free night and 40K annual points for $60 on a business card, and you find these bonuses are often nice freebies that come with your almost free hotel stays.

Stay 30 nights and earn up to 120,000 points. One night in a top hotel is 70,000. So you’re looking at 1 worthwhile free night. I’ll pass.

To be fair if you’re always looking at the top cost all of these promos are going to look awful.

You used to be able to get great deals with Club Carlson. I stayed at the Radisson Blu in Chicago for 25,000 points a night, plus one night free by having the credit card. Now it’s about 70,000 for one night instead of 25,000 for two nights. Since then I’ve barely used Club Carlson and I have no interest in accumulating their points. Country Inn and Suites are probably their best deals but those are hit and miss. I’ve stayed in some nice ones and also some bad ones.
