Costco: One Year MoviePass & Fandor Membership For $89.99

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Costco is offering a one year membership to MoviePass & Fandor for $89.99.
    • MoviePass gives you access to unlimited movies at the cinema (more on that here)
    • Fandor is a streaming service similar to Netflix, focusing on movies.

The Fine Print

  • None

Our Verdict

MoviePass is regularly $9.99 a month, they recently had a sale for a years membership for $89.99 so this deal is basically the same with the free Fandor streaming service thrown in. No shopping portals offer anything on Costco as far as I know.

Can I buy more than one Moviepass membership with my Costco account? For example, one for myself and one for my wife?

You can, you just have to use your own smartphones to sign up, and have to use the smartphone to pay for your pass. You can’t have two accounts on the same phone, per Moviepass.

Does anybody know if there is any offer for Costco membership? My membership expired a few years ago. And there was a good offer a few months ago, but I was on the fence, and I missed it.

Buying through Costco, even with the 5% non member surcharge is a great deal, because if moviepass folds or drastically changes membership benefits, Costco will have your back.

If I’m an existing MoviePass subscriber, can I buy the Costco pass and cancel existing membership? Would I need to sign up for a new account with MoviePass?

You would have to buy the costco pass (with a different email) and then cancel the old one. See: https://moviepass.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003393792-I-am-a-monthly-MoviePass-subscriber-Can-I-get-the-Costco-deal-

The issue is will they stay in business. Break-even is at 9 months. Essentially buying it at this price, you are betting MP will be around for at least 9 months.

Break even is way less if you see multiple movies per month

Bryant,

Break even for the $89 plan vice paying month to month. Ian is correct.

Bryant,
The breakeven is at watching 9 to 10 movies, which can happen after two weeks as you’re allowed one movie per day. Why do you all have to argue?

Break even for 1 movie per month is at 9 months, but you’re allowed to watch any 2D movie once a day every day of the month, so that’s not accurate.

you can sing up currently for $10/mo, making b/e 9 months

I would assume that you can return it to Costco if not satisfied.

I got my MP during the Thanksgiving promotion.($90 for one year) I owned MP for 20 days now and watch 19 movies so far. I think I already broke even 2 weeks ago.

Yes, and I’ve reported it, but no response. I’ve placed a chargeback on my card but they don’t automatically credit, so I will have to pay both until they reach a decision.
