Cricket Rewards Will Shut Down On February 26th, 2018

Cricket has announced that they will be shutting down their rewards program on February 26, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Timeline is as follows:

  • November 28, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. EST: No new applications will be accepted
  • January 2, 2018 at 5:00 p.m: Existing members will stop earning points
  • February 26, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. EST: Program will be discontinued and no more point redeeming options will be available

They will not be offering a new rewards program after this one ends, claiming that they want to focus on what makes cricket best. If you have under 100 points they are also adding a sweepstakes option so you can use the last remaining points you have. We’ve seen a lot of movement in this space recently with the other following changes:

If you’re looking for a cheap alternative to Cricket, one option would be Sprint’s unlimited free plan for one year.

The worst part is that they’re removing the referral rewards. First year I signed up with Cricket I basically paid nothing after getting $300+ of referral rewards. Since then they capped it at 10 x $25 per year so that was 2 free months on my 5 person, $100/mo group plan.

What a real shame, first they raise their group rates and now they’re ending the rewards program. Last year I was averaging $50 a month on gift cards from Cricket Rewards, now I’m lucky if I can get $5 a month.

Ha! I knew about it, and somehow always forgot to enroll. I hope it wasn’t too generous, as I have a cricket family plan.

It was amazing, no joke. Probably got $5 GC a month with points when I got the discounted card on the 15th of each month.
