Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Small Business Benefits comes with a free checking account and there are no other fees I can see.
Early Account Termination Fee
I can’t find the fee schedule so I’m unsure if an early account termination fee is charged or not.
Our Verdict
Previously they have offered a bonus of $150. This is a bigger bonus but it does have more requirements. Looks like it will be somewhat difficult to open as a call is required, not sure if you can complete the application over the phone or not. Most readers don’t really like to bother with these types of bonuses, so because of that I won’t be adding it to the best business checking bonuses until we at least know more.

I had one representative contact me saying I’d be able to sign and email back papers to her so I wouldn’t have to go in branch, and another call me saying I would have to come in at least once to sign papers. Was trying to open with a ‘business’ but I’m located nowhere near them
I was told in-branch that this spring promo had expired and they couldn’t find it on their website. After convincing the branch employee that adding /sbbenefits still means it’s part of their own website bmtc.com, the branch emailed the regional promo manager to try to confirm the promo. Another manager later called to say a similiar if not identical promo is coming in the fall, starting in Sept., without confirming this promo I’m trying to sign up for.
Also, the Biz Statement Savings account has a minimum balance requirement of $100 to avoid the $5 monthly fee. No fee for the biz checking account, but $0.50 per item after 500 transactions per month.
Just opened. Does pull Chex. Not Chex sensitive. Not Chex negative remark sensitive either.
Any CC funding?
I’ll give it a try- they’ve been expanding in Philly and I now live a 5 minute bike ride from one.
