Drop: Get $70 With Farmer’s Dog Order (Why You Shouldn’t Do This Deal)

Update 3/30/21: Drop is offering 70k points again. Originally I was going to post a new post about this and warn people about this deal but thought it would be better to just repost the old post instead. I’d recommend reading what happened last time below to get an understanding of why you might want to avoid this deal.

Update 1/21/21: Drop has now sent out an e-mail stating:

Name,

In recent days, you may have noticed your order from The Farmer’s Dog was cancelled, and 75,000 pending points were removed from your Drop account. We’re writing to explain our error, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. Here’s what happened.

Yesterday, our fraud team noticed an unusual spike in The Farmer’s Dog sign ups through Drop, and subsequently started an investigation into why this might be happening. After a fair bit of digging, we noticed our Drop points guarantee window allowed fraudulent users to effectively game our system for points. To stop these users, we had to cancel all The Farmer’s Dog orders and pause the offer while we work to fix our mistake.

The Farmer’s Dog has been a long-standing, wonderful-to-work-with partner on the Drop platform for years, so it pains us to see negative Google reviews at their expense. If you’ve written any damaging reviews for The Farmer’s Dog, please consider removing them — this is Drop’s error, and Drop’s error alone.

As our sincerest sorry, we’re crediting your account with 5,000 Drop points in hopes that it’ll get you closer to your next reward, ASAP.

Thanks again for being a Drop member, and if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding your point balance, or your purchase with The Farmer’s Dog, feel free to reach out to our Support team by sending us an in-app ticket.

Update 1/20/21: Orders have been cancelled. E-mails state:

We’ve recently flagged some suspicious activity regarding your promotional code, and your order has been canceled. If you have questions, you can reach out to your contact at Drop.

If you’d still like to try our food, we would be happy to offer you a 50% discount on your first box which you may redeem here. We thank you for your understanding, and would love the chance to share our fresh food with you.

The Offer

  • Drop app is offering 75,000 points (worth $75 in gift cards) when placing an order with thefarmersdog.com.
  • Chase Offers/Bank Amerideals/Citi is offering $25 when you place an order with thefarmersdog.com, no minimum order needed.
  • You can also get 20% back with Uber Visa Local Offers if you pay with a card which is loaded there.
  • Also, link the card to Trueblue for additional rewards.

The Fine Print

  • Points will post within 8 days (now 43 days for some people), guaranteed

Our Verdict

Reader b. sent this in, noting that they found it under the Pets category in Drop. They also note being able to buy some beef for just $17.50 (more details here) which should result in a $57.50 moneymaker (minus sales tax). You can also get $25 back with a Chase Offer/Bank Amerideal if you were targeted and save that offer, so it should turn out to be a $82.50 moneymaker. Plus 20% back with Uber Visa Local Offers and some Trueblue points.

Could be worth doing for the moneymaker, and certainly a terrific deal for someone with a pet who can make use of the order. This offer does require signing up for a subscription; be sure to cancel before getting hit with the second charge if you don’t want it to continue. (According to the new terms, points will only post after 43 days – maybe that will require 2 months subscription?)

They declined my points because I used the 50% off first box offer from the merchant, which is a promo not found in drop. Scammers…

Drop points posted fine for me. Also, FWIW, when you go to “cancel your subscription” and select that it’s too pricey as the reason you’re leaving, you can adjust the actual size of your order to get the price down. That probably would look suspicious though, and I don’t think(?) you could do that on your first order anyway, but it’s a nice trick I guess if you like the service.

This deal seems to be posting no issues these days. Posted for both myself and P2 on Drop. Actually player 2 got 90,000 points.

It’s never too late to be outraged about something that happened two months ago!

There’s plenty of room for belated outrage on the outrage bandwagon.

I was a victim too but I didn’t care anymore. Drop has become useless to me ever since they dropped Amazon gift card as an option to redeem, the only reason I used drop in the past

Dont do it. I actually wanted to try the food. Ordered $60 —so it was like a free trial. Not gaming the system. They wouldnt honor it “guaranteed points”. Really ridiculous.
THe Farmers Dog made it right—they just gave me a refund.
My dogs love the food but it is WAY too expensive to use regularly.
So it is in the freezer for an occasional treat.

Drop is ABSURD.
I am trying to get my points to enough to redeem then deleting….
AVOID it…..
not worth it
