[Expired] Free Echo Dot when Registering for an Amazon Business Account

Update: offer is still showing. Seems it’s a general promotion, not a Prime Day thing.

The Offer

Direct Link (our affiliate link)

  • Get a free Echo Dot by registering for an Amazon Business account

This second generation Echo Dot usually sells for $49.99, though today it’s on sale for $34.99. Simply registering for an Amazon Business account gets it for you free.

The Fine Print

  • Promo code to get the Echo Dot should come within 72 hours or registration

Our Verdict

Pretty sweet deal for someone with a business to register. An Amazon Business account is just a separate Amazon account for your business. It also has certain specials targeted for businesses, but otherwise it’s an ordinary Amazon account. You do need to give in your EIN/SSN to register the account. People have also had success using their business account to double dip on deals (e.g free $5 Amazon credit with $25 gift card purchase)

I got the promo code with no EIN. The emailed it within 3 days and my account was changed over to a Biz account. Not sure if that was a mistake. Perhaps I should have created a new one?

I have an EIN, i was just approved but i had to send in my ein paper work (that seems normal) but i had to add a official letterhead stating i was an employee of my company, which i just made up.

Told by Amazon rep it was targeted. You had to have received an email with the promotion.

(Oops — posted as a reply, when I meant this to be a stand-alone comment)
So, how many people have actually gotten the promo code? If the promo code does arrive, is that in a separate email? Or in a link one clicks in the “Welcome to Amazon Business” email? Or something else?

I didn’t receive any code. And it’s not showing the no rush shipping option anymore. I upgraded my current regular account don’t ask me why! Is there a way to get it back to a regular non business account?

Also just spoke with a rep and she told me the deal died sometime around noon yesterday (as it expected, they were flooded with applications). I was finally approved today and applied on the 12th but had to open a ticket for the echo dot email code to be released to me. So just an fyi if you did apply before the 13th, got approved, and never received your code then you might have to call to open a ticket.

How do you know if you are verified? If you are able to login (I am able to it looks like)? How do you know it is a business account, I don’t see anything different than my regular account whatsoever, other than different email. So confusing.

Hello. following up on this I was able to find out what was going on – after your account is verified, there is a 24 hour period before you’re code becomes active it. I was able to place my order today, with the promo code. You just need to add the echo dot to your account, and use the promo code at checkout.

Also, for verification, I sent my ein document from the IRS and a word document that said,” the business name is literally my name – that should be proof” I was verified 4 hours later.

Same here, see my post above. I saw this yesterday morning too, right after creating my business account. Not sure what to make of it. Dead deal? Are we doing something wrong?

Has anyone gotten anything? Signed up today and haven’t heard anything and when I login it goes into regular Amazon not the Amazon Business.

I signed up for a new business account yesterday, was immediately approved, and when I’m signed into it, I see this on that product page: https://i.imgur.com/h92GCZg.png

My dad has had a business account for a while, and when he goes to the product page while logged into it he sees the same thing.

Both of us see https://i.imgur.com/sd5ZGPd.png when logged in with our regular Amazon accounts and when not logged in to any Amazon account.

Doesn’t seem like the deal is alive? What do you (or your friend) see on that product page when logged into an Amazon Business account?

I got an email from Amazon saying they could not verify my business and asked me to send a bunch of documents proving my business. Separately they also sent me a code for the Echo Dot with the condition that the code will become active within 24 hours of the business account validation
