Free Voucher to get 25¢/gallon Discount on Gas

The Offer

Direct Link (our affiliate link, thanks for supporting the site)

  • Groupon is offering a free voucher to get a discount of 25¢ off per gallons at Shell with the Fuel Rewards Network program

The Fine Print

  • Discount can be used until January 25, 2018
  • This offer will be available on Groupon from 10/23/17–1/23/18 or once 500,000 reward codes have been issued
  • Limit 1 per person, may buy 3 additional as gifts
  •  To earn a Fuel Rewards savings of $.25/gal, you must register as a new Fuel Rewards member
  • No purchase required to earn the Fuel Rewards savings
  • Fuel Rewards savings limited to 20 gallons of fuel per purchase
  • Once you begin to dispense fuel using your Fuel Rewards savings, you must dispense to the 20-gallon limit or you forfeit any remaining savings for the other gallons

Our Verdict

You might need to register for a new Fuel Rewards account using the Groupon link you’ll get in an email. Won’t work for existing FRN members.

Either way, it’s at least one $5 credit toward a Shell fill-up (assuming you can use 20 gallons) which an okay bonus for signing up if it’s a program you’ll be able to take advantage of. You can also earn FR credit by shopping at many groceries. And Fuel Rewards now combines with Stop&shop/Giant points as well. T-mobile also offers 25¢ credits some Tuesdays.

I must be missing something. I have went to Shell stations many times and I thought it was widely known that you could always get $0.25/gal off for a new rewards account? Then pair that with the +”whatever” to your existing email to mock a new account etc etc????

25 cents a gallon seems a lot, but not if it is just for 10 gallons 🙁

10 gallons? The cap is 20 gallons. If the problem is your tank size, I’ve seen two workarounds. Two couples from my office take care of both their vehicles at the same time when redeeming as a workaround. My solution is to put the remainder of the discounted gas in a gas can for either the lawnmower or to top off my car when there is more room in the tank.

You can you use gift cards with the Fuel Rewards program. I’ve used both Shell gift cards and Circle K (at locations that had Shell gas). You enter rewards information first, then select credit
before swiping the gift card. The timeout window is a little shorter than I prefer, so have your cards ready to go at once or else it could forget your rewards information and you will have to restart.

I accepted the offer. Nearby, under “Other Offers”, I saw a Dunkin Donuts listing for 100% cashback up to $3 at no cost. Grabbed that one as well. Even if you don’t need the fuel check to see if you have this one in your Groupon offers.

That’s twice as many gallons as I need to fill my gas-sipping Corolla’s tank, so I’ll leave this one for those who can use it more.

If you live near a Publix, you could stack this with their “$50 gas card for $40” deal (with $50 grocery purchase) that comes around about once a month. They sell Shell cards.

New account only really makes this not sweet as you cannot stack up on rewards by applying multiple codes to one existing account. I tried it and was told the code is invalid.

You can just make a new account with a fake number. I already have an account and I signed up for another by changing the last digit of my phone. No verification, all I need to do is put in that fake number when I fuel up later this week.
