[Expired] Giant, Stop&Shop, Martin’s: 2x Fuel Points on Mastercard Gift Cards (10/2-10/8)

The Offer

Stop&ShopGiantMartin’s (ad for 10/2-10/8, page 10)

  • Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have an offer showing in their upcoming circular for October 2 – October 8: Get 2x fuel points on the purchase Mastercard gift cards.

Gift cards generally don’t earn fuel points at all at Giant/S&S/Martin’s, but occasionally they release offers like this to get points on gift card purchases.

Gas Points Details

Every 100 points gets you 10¢ off per gallon at Shell, up to 20 gallons. If you have 1000 points, you’ll get $1 off. If you have 1500 points, you’ll get $1.50 off per gallon (max $1.50 discount in most). Points can be used at partner Shell locations.

Points are now usable on groceries as well, with a value of 100 points equaling a $1 discount.

  • You have 30 days to select whether you want to use the points on gas or groceries, then 30 days to actually use them.
  • See the FAQ for more details. Some of the details vary by area and store.
  • Points usually are available immediately, but I’ve had on occasion where it took a day until they showed up and were usable.

Our Verdict

Aside from the Mastercard deal, there’s also a deal on Happy gift cards, shown in the image above. Fuel points can be used to discount groceries as well, making these deals more widely useful. Use a card that earns a bonus at the grocery.

Note: many SS/Giant stores have implemented a $2,000 limit in gift card purchases each day (previously the limit was $5,000). They also require putting it all on a single card.

Idk if it’s across all 3 brands or not, but Stop & Shop has 10x points (10/9-10/15) for Kohl’s and Google Play. Between gas points and grocery CC cashback, saving 20+% on either brand is a great deal. Just something to keep in mind if you need either brand before racking up lots of points this week with the MCGC deal.

Anybody else had an account flagged, or something? I’ve had points not post, and when I called up they claimed the “minimum $25 purchase” for which I think $5000 on MGCs suffices. They’re claiming “$25 in addition” to the MGCs, which is NOT what the circular says at all. Still, if there’s a problem and customer care consistently tells you to screw off, seems like something else is going on.

In Pennsylvania Giant (Giantfoodstores.com):
Looks like the MGCs (which usually don’t count as points( aren’t counting on points.
Local Circular has the 2x.

Created a totally new account (new address, new phone number, same name).
Tried $500 MGC => no points.
Tried $500 + $39 grocery => 39 points.

Customer support via phone is just not honoring the deal. Local store added points for my experiments. I didn’t try to get 10k+ points from the other store

Does anyone know if gas points expiry is still 60 days or is it back to 30 ? With the Discover and Amex 10/25 BP offers in effect this will take some time to use up.

With Go points you have 30 days to decide what to use them for, and another 30 to use them.
