How To Book A Free Round Of Golf For More Than One Person With A Citi Prestige

One of the benefits of the Citi Prestige card is that you receive three free rounds of golf every year. These rounds can only be used by the primary cardholder. Golf is a social sport, so I doubt most people will want to play a round by themselves. If your friends don’t have a Citi Prestige, then this is easily solved – you just book for the number of people who want to play and then you’re refunded your green fees. But what happens if you want to go with a friend who also has a Citi Presitge?

Reader VR Hunter recently ran into this issue and this is what they were able to find out:

One thing I haven’t been able to gain clarity on until having the card is how to book a tee time for 2-4 people who all have the Citi Prestige card in the same group.

I called Citi to ask about this today. A golf concierge specialist called me back and said it is possible. The only way to do it is find a tee time in the online booking system that allows booking a party of 1 to however many people are in your group then book the tee time independently for each cardholder for the same time slot. Sounds reasonable, and I do see availability at great courses in my area with not too much trouble.

So basically you just need to find a course that will allow you to make a tee time for one person and then each make separate reservations. I assume after you’ve done this, it’s a good idea to call the pro shop to let them know that you’ll be golfing together.

The main problem is that the course needs to accept bookings for only one person, a lot of the better courses have a two person minimum. If anybody knows of a work around for that, please let me know in the comments.

I have done a single booking in LV via Citi concierge. Surely if you have the info of others in ur group, citi can book u as a group.

Is there a way to get around the 2-person minimum? Many courses I’ve seen have cheaper rates than what’s on Citi’s site and I’d rather not have my friend pay more than he needs.

Obviously not a real helpful answer, but my plan is just to help my brother out a little on his fees, so we both end up paying less than we would have. Doesn’t have to be 50/50. Not really free, but we both win.
