This deal has now expired, you can view the current IHG promotion by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • IHG has launched their Q3 promotion. It’s broken down into three different offers.
    • Earn up to 5,000 points per stay starting from your second stay:
      • Get 5,000 bonus points per stay at InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton® Hotels, Hotel Indigo®, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts and EVEN® Hotels
      • Get 2,000 points at Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®. Holiday Inn Club Vacations®, Holiday Inn Resort®, Staybridge Suites® & Candlewood Suites®
    • Get 20-30% off when you book by July 15th for stays July 1 through September 16
    • Get up to 32¢ off gas
      • 25¢ off per gallon after your first stay
      • This is in addition to the 7¢ off you’d normally receive

The Fine Print

  • Discounted rate requires a stay of at least two nights
  • Must be an IHG® Rewards Club member with a registered address in North or South America and must register member number in advance to participate in “2,000/5,000 Point” campaign
  • Please allow up to 4 to 6 weeks for bonus points to be credited after checkout.
  • Offer valid in the United States only from 7/1/18 – 9/16/18 (“Offer Period”). You must register for the promotion and complete one stay at a participating hotel during the Offer Period to be eligible for the one-time promotional Fuel Rewards® savings of USD $0.25/gallon. Discount code will be provided via email 2-4 weeks after first stay is complete. Must be a member of the Fuel Rewards® program to redeem discount at a participating Shell station. Once discount code is received, it must be added to the member’s Fuel Rewards® account by 10/15/18 and must be redeemed at the pump within 45 days of adding the discount code to the account.

Our Verdict

Never just assume the 20-30% off rate is the cheapest, often it isn’t so make sure you do a regular search and also any discounted searches you’d normally do as well. My recommendation is to enroll in this promotion even if you have no plans to use it, that way if you just accidentally stay twice during the promotional period you’ll still get the points and you don’t need to worry about registering later. You should be able to stack it with these other offers as well:

Q3 Accelerate is still available. I’m wondering if this promotion is stackable with Accelerate.

How do you get the 7 cents on the Fuel Rewards program? I’ve linked my IHG card and it gives me a standard 6 cent discount.

Not that I really need that extra penny but I’m curious to see why it’s different.

You have to be Spire, which is normally not worth it.

Log in to your Fuel Rewards account at http://www.fuelrewards.com

Click on “Account”, then “Manage Loyalty Cards”

Click on “Link card or account”, choose IHG Rewards from the drop down list and enter your account info.

Doc,

I think you mean July 16 through September 16. Unless those are incredibly specific stay dates 😜

Regarding the 5k & 2k promo…..’starting from your second stay’…..does that mean your second or third stay begins the qualification?

It literally says it right there “Starting from your second stay”

Sorry you had to take time out of your (likely) busy day to respond to someone who is obviously not as adept at inference as you, Thomas. The email I received post sign up had the verbiage ‘starting on your second stay’. The usage of the word ‘from’ led me to believe the second stay didn’t net you the 5k or 2k points, instead the third stay would (i.e from now on…). I was merely looking for some clarification from this (normally) helpful group.
