Our Verdict

These are basically the same offers they offered earlier this year. The gold offers are not worth considering as we frequently see higher bonuses on those cards. The offers on the Reserve & Platinum are worth considering as they are as high as we’ve seen on those cards. It’s also worth remembering if you get the cards now you’ll get the lower annual fee before it increases in January (on card renewal you’d pay the new higher annual fee if you keep the card though).

I suspect all of these offers will contain the lifetime language as normal. You can check for offers without that language by clicking here. If you have any questions about American Express cards, read this post before asking them.

Hopefully they run the Plat Biz $500 statement credit with $1K Delta spend and SUB 50k Skymiles $3k MSR.

While the Gold offers may be worth waiting for considering the increase in AF is so small.

What are the higher offers we frequently see on the Gold cards? I haven’t followed the Delta cards super closely, but I don’t recall seeing anything higher than 70k any time recently on the Gold biz card.

Have been targeted 75k offers on gold biz this year.

P2 was targeted for the 75K as well.

Just got an email from them today about the changes that are coming to the gold card. What a bunch of BS. “Congratulations, we are pleased to announce exciting new features on your Delta Gold American Express card!”

You will no longer have access to the sky lounge!
You will no longer qualify for MQM miles!
Were raising your annual fee!

Thank you for being a valuable card holder!

Makes a lot of sense, if they can keep giving you less and less, while charging you more and more, how could you not be highly valued?

like the employer who gives you COL adjustments after being there for years

I already have the Delta Gold personal, can I apply for business version?

Operationally, I like Delta. Who wants Skypesos?

I use them for things like upgrading my son’s flight home at Thanksgiving.

Other than that, my focus is on collecting UR.

Agreed. I have a sneaking suspicion that those excited about manufacturing status via spend aren’t rationally contemplating opportunity costs and are overvaluing status based on the sticker price of benefits they’d never pay for and realistically would pay far less than sticker price for.

Hey William Charles ,

You said that we often see better biz gold offers than this. However, we’ve only seen it be offered this high once this year (prior to your current post). Can you clarify what the better offers are?

I’ve seen a 70k/ with 2k spend

Lots of targeted offers for 75k miles have been received via email and through the mail from Delta.

Keep in mind the Delta Gold appears to be removing the annual fee waiver for the first year in January 2020 – that may make it slightly more attractive to get this month for some people even at 60,000 miles.

I got an email with a targeted offer for the Gold personal card with 60,000 miles after $2K spend in 92 days, $50 statement credit on Delta purchases and $0 annual fee the first year.

The T&Cs didn’t have language about having had the bonus before*, so I applied… and realized I forgot to unfreeze my Experian credit report. I got the message, “We’ll let you know.” I called in and was told I had to answer one question about military service (I’m not military, nor is anyone in my family). The rep checked that I am eligible for the bonus & approved me. He expedited my card, because I am an existing Amex customer (Plat, Everyday, Hilton Aspire & Surpass)

*I just closed a Amex Delta Gold card in July. I’ve also had the platinum.

Have the personal Delta Gold card – seems like it would make sense to get rid of this and apply for the Platinum card with these changes, right?

No more Sky Lounge access at $29 or even $39 with gold – only benefit is priority 1 boarding.

Platinum – sign up bonus, $195 (increase to $250); priority 1 boarding, $29/39 skyClub, annual companion pass

I may be wrong, but at least the Delta Gold gives you 2x points on restaurants worldwide, and 2x points on grocery stores in the USA. Using those categories and and other miscellaneous spend on the gold card will provide a $100 airline credit once your annual spend is at $10,000.

That credit offsets the annual fee, and you’ll be getting 2x points with all food (groceries or eating out).

I have the AMEX Platinum card for lounge etc. So, the combination of both is a good thing in my opinion.

I’m keeping my Delta Gold for sure now. The Delta Platinum and Reserve don’t benefit me for the annual fee they charge.

great points – thanks for the input, Skooby.

Can you provide insight of what’s the best business card to sign up based of SUB?

Andrew D

All of them are good and at or near all time highs. The post recommends Platinum or Reserve.

If I already have a Delta Gold (Personal), can I apply for the Platinum personal, and keep both? I don’t want to upgrade. Seems pointless going that route.

Andrew D

Yes.

If I claimed a bonus on one card in this family before (Gold) can I claim a bonus on another card?

Andrew D
Andrew D

Yes. You can get bonuses for each unique card. If you have gotten Gold before, you can get a bonus on Platinum, Reserve, and Blue. Also, you would be eligible for all the business version bonuses as well.

Do we anticipate them to be available via referrals soon? I am showing old bonuses right now

My referral links has the same personal, but low/the old crappy biz. Link generated from plat biz. Was curious if another card has these biz offers, but haven’t taken the time to try and hoping to hear in the comments here. 🙂

Same for me as of now, both on Biz Plat and Delta golds.

Damn just got denied even only have 1 AmEx card with Schwab. Could it be that I need to put more money on that card? Credit rating 800+, below message.

based on your history with credit card balance transfers, American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of Cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive the welcome offer.

Have not opened one card in all of 2019.
