Checking account has no monthly fee to worry about.

Early Account Termination Fee

There is a $10 fee if the account is closed within 90 days.

Our Verdict

Not as good as the recent $175 bonus with the same requirements that was recently offered. I’d recommend just waiting for a bigger offer to return, because of that I won’t be adding this to our list of the best checking bonuses.

After long & thoughtful deliberations (2 seconds) I think I’ll pass . . .

My checking account from the last round was closed recently. Thoughts on eligibility?

Eric
Eric

You’re not eligible.

“existing customer cannot have had an active checking account with IncredibleBank within the last 12 months.”

arizonapv
arizonapv

Poorly worded terms. If you have closed an account then are you an existing customer? Existing means current, doesn’t it?

LakeMich87
LakeMich87

Agreed. I don’t think I will sign up for this one even if those of us who did the last one and closed our accounts are eligible, but I was just curious as to what other people thought on the wording.

Eric
Eric

No. I found this definition online: “Existing Customers. Consists of customers who have purchased or otherwise used an organization’s goods or services,”.

Even if you are a former customer you are still an “existing” customer. It is pretty clear to me who is eligible.

Eric
Eric

You could be a current customer and still qualify. If you have a savings or some other account and haven’t had a checking account in the past 12 months you can get the bonus.

I agree they could have been clearer but I understood it.

Bill

i find the 30 day timeframe a bit unrealistic. You have to establish an account, then go into an ADP system with your employer to set up the direct deposit – which sometimes can take 1-2 paycyles for verification – then have two direct deposits hit. Hard pass with this bank

DaveInAZ
DaveInAZ

I have that problem two, my employer uses ADP and pays bi-weekly. The first paycheck after adding a new bank for DD is a printed check while they do a pre-note to verify it’s your account. So, impossible to get 2 DDs to a new bank within 30 days.

ChaseJuggler
ChaseJuggler

Teachers only get paid once per month! And only 10 months per year! I guess in theory it would be possible if I did a DD on February 1st and then on March 1st lol. None of the other months could even begin to work.

Gerald
Gerald

Rather strange that they give you only 30 days to do two payroll direct deposits. Most employers take a while to switch banks, and many people get paid monthly. Good thing they don’t seem to be fussy about the source of DD.

Shirley
Shirley

Exactly, the previous bonus thread looks like every ACH transfer worked for the DD.

Eric
Eric

William Charles,

Is there really a good chance of that large of a bonus returning any time soon? I’m tempted to sign up with this offer as I was pissed at myself for missing the $175 offer when it ended after only a few days.

Ron
Ron

I completely missed the earlier offer and only learning about it now – how don’t know!
Are you saying the offer was pulled earlier than the stated deadline 11/15/2019?

Eric
Eric

Yes, it was pulled after only 3 or 4 days. The reason I waited to apply is I didn’t know if an employer DD would be required and didn’t want to waste a Chex pull. Obviously I regret that decision now.

Essentially, for what will be about an hour TOTAL worth of work…. ill take a 102/Hr paycheck

SamL

I’m not gonna open an account and jump through hoops for ~$100. and I’m sure many others here feel the same.

What surprises me is that some people will still jump on deals where to get $100 you not only have the aggravation of opening an account, but you also have to lock away $10k for 2-3 months (e.g. a few deals currently on this forum).

Somehow when the deal includes locking away a lump of cash for a while, some people think of the % return on the deposit, forgetting that the deal isn’t even worth bothering with even if you didn’t have the deposit requirement.

LakeMich87
LakeMich87

Jump through hoops? It takes like five minutes to sign up for an account and two seconds for me to change a percentage of my DD to go to this account. Also, what better options do you have for yield on $10k that might be someone’s emergency savings? Certainly am not going to put it in equities. Getting a $100 boost on $10k that otherwise would sit in a low rate savings is not a bad return for clicking a button and moving it from one bank to another.

arizonapv
arizonapv

Plus they are not chex sensitive and there is no hard credit pull.

Evan

To each his own, I will gladly spend the time to open an account and lock up money to get a better return than my main account’s APY.

If you do it make sure to download and use the mobile app. They log when you do and check that you have for bonus req’s.

Sincerely,
the dumbass who didn’t and missed the $175

Eric

Not only that but you aren’t even eligible for this bonus as you’ll have to wait 12 months from closure.

Not sure how worthwhile this promo is, but the bank in general is one of my hub banks. ACH pulls (under 5K) go through next business day (pulls over 5K do have a 2 or 3 day hold. Pushes process next business day regardless of amount.

Their bill pay has option to pay to an acct/routing #. This may be considered DD by some banks (associated bank for one). Also helps push money quickly without establishing traditional external links.

I believe newer accounts have 10K aggregate ach monthly limits – older accounts more generous at 75K so ymmv.

Potatoslayer
Potatoslayer

Yes I wanted to put this info in. I love this bank as a hub. The transfers post only a few hours after I submit them on business days and they accept online deposit if money orders with funds available only a few hours later. I have 10 accounts linked to this one.

JakeFromStateFarm

How much volume of MO deposits have you done?

Potatoslayer

Low volume. I don’t push my luck.

So you’re saying if you push 5K from Incredible Bank to Chase, The money will be available for withdraw from Chase the next day?

If you pull 5K from Chase to Incredible Bank, you’ll have money to withdraw from Incredible Bank the next day?

das1996
das1996

Yes to both.

I just had an odd experience. I went through the initial application and received the error “We apologize, but unfortunately there was an error when submitting the application. Please try again later”.

When I clicked “Ok” I was brought back to the same screen so I didn’t have to fill out everything again. It then went through fine so it must have a glitch.

After I answered some credit report questions I received the below message. It’s odd that it would say “Congratulations” but imply I could still get denied. Is this the common message others received?

“Congratulations

Your application is already being processed! We will call or email you within 1-2 business day with an update about the status of your application.”

Looney Tunes
Looney Tunes

The email I got said: “Thank you for your application! One of our Incredible Concierges will call or email you within two business days about the status of your application”.

Did the email include a link to access the Application Status page? If so, check that. My application was approved two days later when I checked that page (no one ever called me as far as I remember).

Eric
Eric

Yes, it did but I didn’t bother to check. 1 or 2 days later my account was approved.

What do they require as far as “use the app”? Is it sufficient download/install, log in, check balance? or you need to do other tasks like making deposits/withdrawals?

Looney Tunes
Looney Tunes

All I did was download and install then I made sure to open it once a month. Didn’t do any activities in the app.

The app isn’t very good so couldn’t do some of the things even if I wanted to.

Eric
Eric

Did you end up getting your bonus? Checking your account balance or even just logging in is technically “using the app”.

arizonapv
arizonapv

Last time, all we had to do was download the app, so that’s all I did. I took a screen shot as proof because the terms didn’t say we had to actually use it.

If you dont have a smart phone, can you download the app to a computer?

Gadget - Bank Bonus Geek 🕵️

No, they don’t offer a Windows app. There is windows software you can run to install android apps called Bluestacks. It’s not very easy to use, bank apps probably don’t work very well, and I wouldn’t trust it to count. You would be better off borrowing a friend’s phone for two minutes, install, login and logoff, then uninstall.

arizonapv
arizonapv

I was able to download the app to my laptop. I don’t have a smart phone.

Steve

What do you mean by “download the app to my laptop”?

Anyway, the terms for this offer say “download and use the mobile app for IncredibleBank”.

arizonapv
arizonapv

I went to the website google play and downloaded the app, I got the message “Installed” all on my laptop. this was for the prior offer which only required us to install the app.

If you have a fairly recent ChromeBook you can install Android apps on it.

Not all Android apps work, but I expect this one will

Eric
Eric

How recent do you mean? What site do you go to download apps on the Chromebook?

desert rat
desert rat

Well, as definitely a dumbdumb about stuff like this, I tried to install an app on my computer. The Apple one says it will only install on an iphone or ipad and the Google one tells me I dont have any devices. So I guess I’d have to follow Gadget’s advice (below) to do this – not sure it’s worth it, tho.

desert rat

well, now that this comment has posted, Gadget’s advice is actually above, not below

For the last bonus, all I did on the app was log in and check my balances. Also if I had a question, I would send a secure message.

Peek

I downloaded the app, logged into both accounts from one phone and then never used it again. Bonuses paid for both accounts.

Their splash page starts with “You’re a valuable IncredibleBank customer with a savings or money market account. And for that, we want to say thank you with $102.”

Is that the “existing” customer language being debated here? Is this only open to current savings/MMA customers?

Linamax
Linamax

I think the existing customer language could burn new to the bank customers. Due to that risk and the low bonus amount, I’m going to pass for now.

Eric
Eric

What does “burn new to the bank customers.” mean?

Eric
Eric

The actual terms don’t say “you must be an existing customer” or I wouldn’t have applied. They could try to enforce this if they want to though especially if you don’t use an employer DD.

H.P.
H.P.

I just applied and encountered some weird questions. After passing the ID verification questions, the form asked:
Q1. How did you hear about us? (Internet Search, Referred by friend, Other, etc)
Q2. Friend/Family Name?
Q3. Please Explain.

Even though I answered “Internet Search” to Q1, it still wanted me to put something for Q2 and Q3. So for Q2 I answered “Doctor of Credit web site”, and for Q3 “I don’t understand the question”.

MikeTheCreator

Are you an idiot why would you tell them about this website?

It doesn’t matter dumb ass the average person has know clue about this website, you creatively couldn’t take 2 seconds of your time to make something up geez haha.

Why don’t you go ahead an call and ask them if faking direct deposit with bank transfers is okay with meeting bonus requirements as well lol.

First application was denied because they couldn’t verify my identity. Second application (with picture of drivers license included) was denied because they couldn’t verify my idenity. Both applications asked 4 automated identity questions which I know were answered correctly. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Same here…decline because they could not verify my identity, despite sending them a copy of passport and SSN. Wondering how professional that bank even is.

I applied again and got approved. Not sure why, unless I miss-typed something in my application.
