Love My Credit Union Rewards Sprint Offer – $100 or $50 / Line, $50 Annually

I stumbled across this interesting offer, but was unable to find any coverage of it. I don’t have any experience with this site, or with Sprint—so if you notice anything I’ve missed, please drop a comment!

Love My Credit Union Rewards has had Sprint offers in the past (via newsletters, you may need to scroll down): December 2016, March 2016, January 2016. This offer claims to be “Sprint’s Best Credit Union Member Cash Rewards Offer Ever!”, which seems plausible.

Note that Love My Credit Union Rewards does have a few other offers, which you can peruse on the home page, including an online cashback portal called “Love to Shop” administered by RewardsNOW.

The Offer

Direct link to offer.

Become a Sprint customer and register for cash rewards online (at Love My Credit Union) or with the Love My Credit Union Rewards app.

  • $100 cash reward for every new line switched to Sprint (new customers only)
  • $100 cash reward for every new smartphone line activation (existing customers only)
  • $50 cash reward for every line transferred into Sprint Credit Union Member Cash Rewards (existing customers only)
  • $50 annual loyalty cash reward for every line

Sprint - $100 for New Line

Sprint - $50 for Transferred Line

The Fine Print

For some reason, Sprint decided it’s a good idea for 6.2% of the 321 words that constitute the terms & conditions to be very unnecessary abbreviations. Anyway:

  • Offer begins January 1, 2017 & ends December 31, 2017. Offer, terms, restrictions, and options are subject to change & may be modified, discontinued, or terminated at any time without notice.
  • Activation fee of up to $30 per line applies.
  • Credit approval required.
  • Available for eligible credit union members & member employees (ongoing verification).
  • Tax ID required to establish business account.
  • New customers: switch to Sprint & receive a $100 cash reward for each new smartphone line activation (requires port-in from an active number, wireless or landline).
  • Existing customers: receive a $100 cash reward for new smartphone line activation and/or a $50 cash reward for each smartphone line transferred to program. New lines require activation at point of sale.
  • Existing and new customers: members can earn one $50 loyalty cash reward annually when Sprint account remains active and in good standing for 1 year.
  • The previous three bullet points are all subject to a maximum of 15 lines. (This is slightly confusing with the $50 loyalty cash reward because it specifically says you can only earn 1 $50 loyalty cash reward, but then it says there is a maximum of 15 lines and the non-fine-print implies it is per line. If anyone has any experience with this, please let us know!)
  • Sprint account must remain active and in good standing for 31 days to receive cash reward.
  • Excludes MBB devices (Mobile Broadband?), tablets and Sprint Phone Connect, upgrades, replacements, and ports made between Sprint entities or providers associated with Sprint (i.e. Virgin Mobile USA, Boost Mobile, Common Cents Mobile & Assurance).
  • New accounts must register at lovemycreditunion.org/sprintrewards within 30 days of new line activation(s) to receive $100 cash reward per new line(s).
  • May not be combinable with other offers.

Our Verdict

Unlike the Sprint AAdvantage offer, the T&Cs for this offer do not explicitly exclude the Sprint Discount Program and business accounts appear to be eligible. This offer also looks better to me than the Ebates Sprint offer for $187.50, since that offer requires an Unlimited plan with 5 new lines. (This offer would give $500 for transferring 5 lines and you do not have to choose the Unlimited plan.) This offer should stack with Sprint’s current Unlimited plan promotion where the first line is $50, the second line is $40, and lines 3–5 are free, as the promotion is advertised on the landing page.

The coverage of credit unions looks very extensive to me; I count 213 options for the state of Virginia, with 175 of those having headquarters in VA. (You can easily view a list of credit unions by heading to the TurboTax offer on the website and selecting your state.) One of the nice things about this offer is that the cash reward is deposited directly into your credit union bank account (although this does mean that you have to provide them with your bank account number).

For credit union members currently using Sprint’s service, this seems like a fine deal (whether you’re planning to add a new line sometime soon or just want the $50 annual loyalty reward). In and of itself, this offer isn’t a reason to switch to Sprint, but it may help if you’re currently on the fence. (It’s unclear whether the annual bonus will be extended beyond year 1; my guess is that it will not.)

This is a scam. We never got out rewards after signing up and checking back twice. We met all the fine print criteria but never got ANY rebate.

It’s a scam. Marketing tactics to gain access to your credit union bank info via all of your credit info.

I found this to be a scam!!! Sprint signed me up ..I waited…never received anything.
I called and was told that rebate came back due to wrong routing number ..then they claimed to have emailed me and I had a 48 hour window to respond. I never received an email.
Sprint has my correct email and routing number.. Said I would have to wait a month and re apply …they would send link…never happened. A month ago someone would answer the phone when you called their customer service…now a month later they dont answer their phones anymore. all you get is a voice mail telling you to leave a message and they will call you back. They dont.

Thanks for writing this up!

I recently switched to Sprint and frankly the experience sucked. I payed $70 in activation fees already and they sold me on a “free” tablet which is actually an additional $30 activation fee plus an extra 10$/month for a plan or whatever. Also, the plan they quoted me didn’t include the additional fees (an arbitrary number Sprint imposes on its customers, $14/month for me) or the 28$ in taxes I would be paying. Not to mention I sat at the store for almost 2 hours going through the process of switching. If I don’t switch phone lines ever again, it won’t be because Sprint is great, it will be because all phone companies suck and switching extra sucks.

Plus the service still kinda sucks. After all these years Sprint still just kind of sucks.

I wouldn’t recommend them. Hopefully this cash thing works out but I’m not exactly holding my breath.

I actually found Sprint to be honest with the love my credit union program. The only thing that isn’t clear is when do you get the annual reward. Is it 1year after or can you request a date for the funds? If you find an answer please let me know .

I have a question actually if anyone knows. I just got off the phone with Sprint (current customer) who mentioned this program with me. Currently, I received a discount on my bill (just off the actual plan amount) of 10% for being a Credit Union customer. Which equates to $12/mo off. I saw the offer said it would not be combined with other discounts…seems to me, if I am understanding that correctly, it is well worth it to stay with my current discount rather than this offer.

Any thoughts?

Not sure if this can be combined with the Spring 1 Year Free Offer but maybe there’s a chance? https://www.sprint.com/content/sprint/sprint_com/us/en/shop/offers/free-unlimited.html

I received the same offer from Agriculture Federal Credit Union few times in the past, if you are jumping to Sprint boat and value this offer, it worths a try to check with your credit unions.
