The Fine Print
- To open a new account, you’ll need a $1.00 deposit, a valid ID, and a utility bill with the same address as your ID.
- Accounts are subject to field of membership restrictions.

- Offer is not valid for existing Alltru Credit Union members or those who have closed a 1st Financial or Alltru personal checking account within the past 12 months.

Our Verdict
Need to know if it’s a hard or soft pull, but given it’s a $400 bonus even if it’s a hard pull then this is still a great deal. If anybody goes for this bonus then please share your experiences in the comments below.

Alltru is promoting a referral program now as well, although it’s only given to the referrer. If you’re encouraging friends/family to sign up for the $400 bonus anyway though, there’s little reason to not generate and provide links.
Alltru Referral Program:
Only current Alltru Credit Union members ages 18 years and older are eligible to refer and receive a total of $500 in annual “referrer cash bonuses.” The referring member will receive a $50 Gift Card for each valid referral, as noted below, with a limit of $500 paid out per member per year.
A valid referral requires an individual who: 1) meets Alltru’s membership requirements; 2) opens a new membership at Alltru through an in-person representative OR online; 3) opens a new checking account and completes a minimum direct deposit(s) of $500 within 60 days of account opening; 4) maintains the new account in good standing for a period of sixty (60) days; and 5) maintains good standing with the Credit Union as a member for a period of sixty (60) days.
The non-terms language now reads:
“You’ll get a $50 gift card for each friend who becomes a new member.* You can refer and earn up to $500. Cha-ching!”
Is there fine print at the bottom of the email? Or does it link you to the page I just listed?

Perhaps the “gift card” is always Amazon (even if they don’t specify). I’d hope that they would offer something to both parties, but am still not confident.

I’ve already drained the account and plan to just sit back and wait until they close it.
As of 9/2 my account is still open. I never replied to their previous email.
Just to let you know when I tried to use you as a family member back in July I was denied and I was told that if I wanted to use a family member as a referral they need to live in state. I asked if I could re-apply with a in-state family member or proof that I worship in Missouri and I was told if I wanted to apply again I would have to do it in branch.
As of 9/10 it appears that my accounts have been closed. I hope they mail me a check for my $1 balance.
