The Offer
Login to your American Express business card to see if you got the following offer when referring a friend to an American Express card by November 14, 2022. “Travel more with +4: Limited Time Travel Offer”
If they are approved, you (the referrer) gets the following bonus:
- Extra 4x Membership Rewards points per dollar on travel and transit purchases, on up to $20,000 in purchases for three months.
- Travel includes: airfare, hotels, cruises, tours, car rentals, campgrounds, third party travel websites, and amextravel.com. You will not earn additional points for purchases of timeshare properties.
- Transit includes: trains, taxicabs, rideshare services, ferries, tolls, parking, buses, and subways.
- You also earn the regular referral bonus of 5,000 or 10,000 or 25,000, etc, that you always get when referring a friend who gets approved for a new card.
Your friend will get the regular signup bonus shown on the landing page, as usual.
Our Verdict
This offer is being found on most/all business Amex cards. Amex offers universal referrals and so you can refer a friend from your business to almost any personal or business Amex card. The terms would seem to limit the 4x bonus offer to business referrals, though I have a feeling it’ll work for a personal card signups as well.
The extra 4x points on travel is especially interesting if you’re already earning 4x on the Business Gold card for a total 8x points per dollar can be earned. Or for select travel purchases on Business Platinum which already earns 5x for a total 9x points per dollar earned after the 4x referral bonus gets added.
