New Chase United Card Designs With EMV Chips

Chase has started issuing EMV chips on their United cards (they’ve actually been doing this for awhile) and it looks like they are also updating the card designs as well. Below you can see the new card designs on top, with the previous card designs below:

The Club card is still metal, the Explorer card is not. You should be able to call in and request a card with an EMV chip and it should be the new design, but no promises. Chase will begin sending out the new cards to existing cardholders from May and all cardholders should have the new cards by October 1st when the liability switch occurs.

It’s currently possible to get 55,000 miles +$50 on the Explorer card and the annual fee of $395 on the Club card waived. What are your thoughts on the new designs?
