New Marriott Credit Card Bonuses [Last Day For American Express]

Update 4/23/19: Today is the last day for the American Express bonuses. Also the last day for the upgrade offer on the Brilliant card.

Today is the day Marriott has started officially usually the Marriott Bonvoy name and they have made a number of changes to the co-branded cards offered by American Express & Chase. The American Express SPG personal and Chase Marriott business cards are no longer available for sign up.

As part of these changes we are also seeing some new sign up bonuses on the other Marriott cards that are still available for application. These bonuses are as follows:

Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card (Previously Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card)

Direct link to bonus

  • 100,000 points after $5,000 in spend within the first three months. Valid until 04/24/19

This is the same bonus this card launched with, it has also been available via referral before as well. Personally think we will have to see a stronger sign up bonus on this card in the future, but it looks like at least in the immediate or near term this is as high as it will go. Keep in mind that starting March 28th, 2019 they will be offering a $100 property credit at  The Ritz-Carlton® or St. Regis with a two night minimum stay that is booked directly.

Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card (Previously Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express)

Direct link to offer

  • 100,000 points after $5,000 in spend within the first three months. Valid until 04/24/19

Annual fee is waived first year and will be $95 the following year if you apply before 3/28/19. Otherwise annual fee will be $125 (most likely still waived first year). Again this is the same sign up bonus that was previously offered.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card from Chase (Previously Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card)

Direct link to offer

  • 75,000 points after $3,000 in spend within the first three months of account opening. $95 annual fee not waived

We somewhat recently saw a bonus of 100,000 points on this card.

Our Verdict

None of these offers are particularly amazing, if you’re considering any of them keep in mind the cross issuer Chase/American Express rules for these products. I would have thought Marriott would have wanted bigger bonuses than this to celebrate the launch of Bonvoy, but nothing Marriott does surprises me anymore.

Bonvoy Brilliant is now 75K.

Anybody taking bets on how long it will be until the pain of having so few signups causes AMEX to it is raised to 150K?

Does anyone know if upgrading to the Bonvoy Brilliant bypasses the chase/amex restrictions for the purposes of the sign up bonus? I have the Ritz Carlton Card, but I’d like the 100,000 points.

Ok. So 16 more months and I’ll qualify for the luxury card. Can’t wait. Hahaha

Will, I think “by 4/24/2019” means on or before 4/24/2019, in other words it should be inclusive. So tomorrow should be the last day, instead of today.
Your thoughts?

Now the business version costs $125/year.

I was wondering if I could do a product change from the business card to the personal one? But I already have the personal card as well. So I guess, would it be possible to have two personal Marriott Bonvoy Cards (one of them is a PC from the business card)?

If possible, will I still get two free night certificates?

I’m at 4/24 Chase and want to get Chase United Business card for 75K sign up bonus by March 28. I’m thinking of getting this Bonvoy Business Amex by 3/28 since AF is waived first year, is this the best sign up bonus? Should I get for both United Business and Bonvoy Business Amex on same day so there’s only 1 hard credit pull?

Would still be up to 2 pulls. 1 from Chase and maybe 1 from Amex depending on your history with them. No advantage to applying for both on the same day, no real reason you can’t apply for both on the same day either. If you have any amex non partner cards you should be able to self-refer for the Bonvoy Biz now – or use a friend’s referral to give them points and you get the same 100k/$5k offer.

So can someone confirm my availability – if I recently got (last 30 days) the SPG Business (AMEX) card – now Marriott Bonvoy Business (AMEX) – I can or cannot get the sign-up bonus for the Marriott Bonvoy Luxury card (the previous Luxury card – which I’ve never had)?

Thanks!

What card did you refer from that had the business card as an option?

from regular SPG that has $95 annual fee. But unfortunately the link for business card does not work. I told Amex and they said they are working on it. It has been 2 days but it still does not work.

Referrals appear to be showing up as of today for Bonvoy Business.

There is 1 referral u can do from the spg personal to luxury, it won’t come up if u refer from any other Amex card,

I disagree, honorable Menachem. Referring from any card could get you to the Luxury (Brilliant) card

No referral offer? I was waiting for increased bonus for SPG luxury but I would have taken 75k Marriot + 15k MR anyday compared to 100k Marriot. I hope they bring referrals back.

I just transfered 5k in MR points to Marriott. I prefer Marriott points myself but to each their own. If there was still a referral you could get 20k Marriott points in referral which is the way I would have went.
