[Expired] Panera Bread 20% Discount On Giftcards

Deal has ended, view more Panera bread deals by clicking here.

Update 10/3/22: Offer is back through 10/4/22. Should stack with Chase Offer. (ht Matty Rex)

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Panera Bread is offering a 20% discount on their gift cards and e-gift cards through September 5, 2022.

Our Verdict

Pretty good discount with no limit on how much you can purchase. GC Galore notes that purchasing in the Panera app (or possibly even online) might code as Dining for rewards purposes or to trigger the Chase Offer and to be able to pay with certain Happy cards.

Any DP on how this codes on AMEX, I got the RESY plat and would live to use this deal to also count toward my 25K spend.

Should be:

$25 Panera Gift Card
-$5 Discount (20%)
=$20 Cost
-$2 (Chase 10% Cash Back Offer on Freedom Flex)
=$18 Net Cost

So, $18 for a $25 gift card. I use these in airports when traveling.

$20 purchase on the mobile webpage coded as:

PANERA EGIFT CARD
Food & drink

I don’t usually receive the immediate email confirming the offer was used. So for me that’s not an indication of whether or not the offer was triggered.

DP: Have this offer on 7 cards across P1 and P2. Ordered eGift cards on Panera’s website (desktop browser).
All purchases using Apple Pay have generated Chase’s emails that the offer was triggered. I typed in the card number for other purchases, and these orders did not generate “offer triggered” emails. It does not mean the offer will not apply, but there is no immediate confirmation.

DP: Discover IT got 5 % out of Panera purchases for quarterly Restaurants category (it’s active now)

The offer is only available for online and app purchases, not purchases made in cafes. This is a problem if you use the Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card, since I’ve found that online Panera gift card purchases count as NEITHER “online shopping” nor “dining.” (In-cafe purchases count as “dining,” but that doesn’t trigger this offer.) The best you can do with BOA is the 1.5-2.625% you get from the Unlimited Cash Rewards or Premium Rewards cards.

Any chance this codes as a Restaurant?

Any chance you can scroll down or maybe do a simple search? The DPs already exist.

To all the people complaining about the 20% off GC being too low: you’re supposed to buy discounted GC now and then use them with $- and %-off codes in the autumn and spring. The BoA/Chase offers for Panera are usually negligible due to low % off or low cap, and the best ones rarely coincide with % off GC campaigns.

FYI, the drink sub is currently free i.e. worth $0.00 thru the end of September (or until the next extension), so you shouldn’t be wasting gift cards on them unless you feel deeply morally compelled to pay Panera $11+ a month.

With a 20% discount their food will be only 10% overpriced. Win!

Their prices raised pretty much the same as other places around me. IMHO, the real deal with Panera is combining discounted gift cards with coupon codes.

Celia are you aware of any ongoing codes? All seem to be dead since the end of June.

djfly Not that I am aware of. Several ended 6/30.

Any idea if gift cards can be added to your account and used for the Unlimited Sips membership? Someone in my family signed up for that (Panera next door to their work!). Would be cool to save even more on the 3-4 drinks a day!

No option to add GC to pay the subscription, so I have to put my credit card to pay for it

Thanks for the reply.

Not true. I dunno about Happy Cards, but I’ve been using a meta vgc to pay for the trial sub for the past year.
