Our Verdict

Panera has been giving out three months for free on a regular basis. This enrolls you in auto billing so remember to cancel before the six months is up.

Does the Panera subscription have to match the name on the Amex card in order to get the free 6 months subscription? I have the card and want to get it for my bro cause I’m out of the country right now so can’t use it

Any data points on cancelling early? Is it like the Amazon trials, where you can cancel auto-renewal right after signing up but keep the benefits through the trial period?

MisterBill
MisterBill

When you go to cancel, they typically offer you an extra three free months to stay. I’m not sure whether they add any extra if you cancel early on, but no real reason to cancel early unless you really don’t want to continue with free months.

Vaiva
Vaiva

No, L. K. . Auto-renewal is billed monthly for all customers regardless of paid or unpaid.

If you cancel before the last month of the trial, you lose any unused future months.

They need to offer this for the Panera Beverage Club instead.

I’ve seen surveys about an expanded beverage club but my local Panera still only shows the coffee club as an option. Maybe that’s being tested in certain markets?

Mark V

Yes, you can sign up in certain areas. I am not sure if you if you can use it nationwide, but I would assume so since it just shows up as a reward. You can change your local store and connect using a vpn to sign up. The terms for Raleigh, NC state that you must have made your last purchase at a store in that area but I am not sure that is enforced. You could always order a bagel and never pick it up though. The price in Raleigh is 8.99 per month for the beverage club, so if you are willing to pay for the coffee subscription, I think it is the same price or maybe a dollar more and you can get any self serve drinks. If you are getting the subscription for free, obviously this is much more expensive.

MisterBill
MisterBill

That explains the Raleigh exclusion in the terms.

You can get any self-serve beverage with the coffee program if you order iced coffee, and they give you an empty cup (which they usually do).

I don’t want free coffee, I want free pizza.

Free is free baby, why all the hate when these deals come around

Telling it like it is
Telling it like it is

Because people are selfish and ungrateful.

That’s kinda sad really. Their coffee is so watered down they are banking on luring me in to order (mediocre) food there. I have a 3 month trial, and have only gone a handful of times.

Zac
Zac

It’s not watered down… You can get tea if you want….

ieatdogfood

Hot tea is McDonald’s least ordered item on the menu.

AC

It’s not watered down, but it’s not good either. Their hot tea is nothing to scoff at though. 🙂

MisterBill

I like their iced coffee, but I’m not a coffee drinker and add lots of half & half. Or sometimes when they leave me an empty cup for iced coffee, I accidentally get the wrong beverage.

The Colombian iced coffee is covered under the coffee subscription

MisterBill
MisterBill

Yes, I know. And they usually leave an empty cup. Sadly, today I went to a different location, and they actually gave me an iced coffee

Mark V

I think their iced coffee is awful. Their cold brew is not bad but will likely never be included in this.

MisterBill
MisterBill

I like the iced coffee when it has enough half & half in it. But I’m also not a coffee drinker.

Now waiting for Starbucks free coffee. Preferably a Latte or Mocha

MisterBill

Starbucks hasn’t even had their happy hour deal for months, maybe even a year. Very disappointing

LSD

They had starweek one day where they offered buy one get one 50% off as well as their sweepstakes games where I won bonus stars and $5 gift cards.

LSD
LSD

You get free refills at starbucks by being a rewards member, normally 50 cents per refill. I think what most people do is get a latte or some premium drink for $5 and then get ordinary coffee as refill as many times as they want while they stay there.

Good Morning. “ Valid until 1/31/21”??
2022 I think. Lol
Their Teas are good too.

Vy

It’s been free for over a year now with no prerequisites. Whatever game JAB is playing reeks of desperation.

FYI, probably makes sense to wait until the 2021 promo expires before reupping: https://www.panerabread.com/en-us/mypanera/mypanera-coffee-subscription.html?intcmp=text-con-c-summercoffee-banner

Well don’t you feel obligated to buy a sandwich even if you’re not a breakfast person? Their sandwiches are fresh and really good! Butter, a little cracked pepper.
I’m such a coward. I didn’t enjoy the sourugly look on the waitress’s face when getting my morning coffee or tea. Or sandwich. Or the reminders of tipping them on the sign-in screen. At first I thought, this is SO perfect, I just want a cup of coffee in the a.m. but I stopped after about a week or so.

Jack
Jack

I HATE the tipping thing on the screen. Annoys me to no end. It’s worse than the the donation one at the grocery store.

Ren
Ren

FYI if you use a Panera Gift Card, The tipping question doesn’t come up on the screen.

Celia
Celia

It always comes up for me. I only use gift cards at Panera. Of course, now I only order through the app even if I’m in the parking lot so I can use the coupon codes.

LSD
LSD

So just don’t tip. It’s your money, you decided how to spend it.

767
767

I don’t feel obligated to buy anything or tip at all. Sometimes I do but I’m not spending more just because they are offering free coffee. Depending on the location, all they are giving you is a paper cup and at others, the cup is already out. The only obligation I feel is to make sure I get to panera as often as possible for my free cup.

Nick
Nick

My local cafe is all self-ordering anyway – they are so short staffed there is nobody regularly staffing a register. No guilt in that case.

MisterBill
MisterBill

Why don’t you just order it in the app? That way, the cup is waiting on the shelf for you, and you don’t have to talk to anyone or feel guilty. I don’t even look at the screen when I get to the last page before submitting, except to make sure that it says $0.00. I just wish that they’d get rid of that bar on the bottom saying that the reward has been applied quicker, so I can click on submit.

And no, I feel no guilt in not ordering a sandwich. If they didn’t want me as a customer who only orders coffee, they would not keep offering me three free months when I ask to cancel.

Harry
Harry

Your first mistake is ordering in person vis-a-vis the cashier like all the other boomers who have no idea how to order food in 2021.

DD

I actually used the APP when adding a sandwich. And there she is, looking sour, with my sandwich NOT on the shelf. Otherwise, the travel mug. I liked their coffee. Teas are good too.

Geo

Sounds like u are the sour one. Geez.

I signed up once for free via T-Mobile and every time I’ve gone to cancel since they offer to extend it for free for another three months.
