Plastiq Business Referral Promotion Ends Early, Gives Extra Bonuses & New Promo Coming For All

Plastiq have ended their generous business referral program early. Previously selected customers that referred new business customers would both get $2,500 in free fee dollars after the referred business sent a payment of $100 or more using a business credit card.

Plastiq sent the following e-mail out:

As you know, last month we launched a promotion where you could earn more fee-free dollars when referring a business. While we were excited about this promotion, we noticed that it created more confusion than happiness for our customers. So while we’re ending this promotion today, March 10 at 11:59 p.m. PST, we will be launching a new, extended offer on Tuesday, March 14. Keep an eye out for an email with more details on that day.

Due to the high number of business referrals you provided to Plastiq, we have credited your account with an additional $xx,xx fee-free dollars as a token of our appreciation.

Any additional fee-free dollars owed to you through this promotion will be credited to your account by 5 p.m. PST on Monday, March 13. Please reply to this email if you have any questions.

Best, The Plastiq Team

Some people received additional fee free dollars if they had referred a lot of new businesses.

The new offer will be available to all Plastiq users (rather than just selected Plastiq users) and we will let readers share their referral links when it goes live as always. I suspect it’ll be less generous than the previous offer, but hopefully I’ll be happily surprised. I’m personally not a fan of promotions that are limited to some users, as it leads to issues such as these.

Will/Doc:

As an FYI, Plastiq’s promotion was far from “generous.”

In reality, Plastiq’s business referral promotion was — for many — a total scam.

These details are currently the subject of a lengthy write-up which will be posted to Reddit, and will include proof from nearly fifty verified individuals.

As the saying goes, “YMMV,” and I have no doubt some will say they were not scammed by Plastiq, but I would not touch anything associated with Plastiq right now.

You ar so right Mitch-Plastiq is a scam. I was able to use my Chase credit card when I paid the fee but after I earned the FF$ and tried to make another payment with Chase I got a warning that this will be treated as a cash advance. Below is my chat with Paul. Which was a total waste of time. Be forewarned!!!

Me
I am making my first payment to my son’s apartment which I set up with no problem. A message said it would be a mailed check and allowed 7-10 business days I think. When I went to pay I got a pop up that my visa card would be a cash advance. I want to use my fee free dollars and you send me emails all the time to pay bills with credit cards to places that don’t take credit cards. Why are you charging a cash advance?
I am using my Chase visa.

Paul
i’m very sorry your card issuer is treating your first payment as a cash advance. Because Plastiq does not have a relationship with this recipient, this VISA transaction will be treated as a cash advance. To avoid this cash advance treatment, you can use a MC, AmEx,or VISA debit card for this payment.

Me
you mean Chase is treating this a a cash advance?

Paul

it appears so. that is why we suggest using another card at this time.
at times, some payments are treated as cash advance and we cannot predict this behavior. i’m very sorry if yours was treated this way. using another card type will allow your to process your payment.

Me
I don’t want to use visa debit, that defeats the purpose of using a credit card with you. you advertise your advantage to using a credit card to make payment to companies that don’t accept cc payments. By the way my first payment was with a Chase business card and there was no cash advance- Why is that?
I wonder if you don’t want me to use the fee free $ I earned.
My first payment went through when you collected a fee from me???

Me

You are not answering why my previous
chase payment went through when you charged me $2.50 for the transaction and this payment won’t work with fee free $
I don’t believe chase is picking and choosing which transactions to Plastiq are getting a cash advance coding.

Paul

we understand if you do not want to use another card type at this time and will not be able to process this payment on this card

Me

That’s not it. I want you to allow all my Chase payments not just the ones you make money on.

Paul

is there anything else I can help you with?

Me

I will be reporting this scam. Thank you.
