Our Verdict

So the publicly available bonus is $300 and available to everybody in the following states: AL, DC, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MD, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, SC, VA, WI and WV. Some people might actually prefer that due to the credit card funding ability and not having to go in branch, obviously if you can fund in branch with a credit card and it’s not a cash advance then this deal is significantly better. The $30 bonus is pretty good for speaking with them as well, I can’t imagine they will bother you too much if you’re already planning on opening the checking account as well.

I’ll be adding this as a side note on our best checking bonuses page.

Big thanks to reader, Curmudgeon who let us know. Learn how to find bonuses and contribute to the site here.

Opened yesterday without issue.

Will, you didn’t account for the $3.03 they give you to demo mobile deposit, ATM deposit, and ATM cashing. They give you 3x $1.01 checks to demo out all 3.

They have a pretty cool ATM that supports dispensing and accepting up to 99 coins. It’s actually a really nice branch overall.

It took about 45 minutes to open account yesterday, setup online, get debit card (instant issue), make the 3 demo deposits/cashing, and get the $30 bonus card.

Overall it’s actually one of the nicest bank branches I’ve been in and I’ve been in a ton locally due to you; however, banker offices are weird as they are not assigned offices and the offices feel a little cheaply made (sound between offices next door and people outside came through the walls) but the overall branch is very nice.

For those that are saying the offer is pulled I had no issue opening it past 5 yesterday and they were trying to sell it to a random off the street who didn’t know about it. It also appears that other branches are showing it where Will linked above. I have feeling they removed it from the branches website due to the absolute absurd amount of interest will drove.

Overall a good bonus that I hope is easy to complete.

Stopped by today.

Reps explained the program as Kevin Rose mentioned above.

I did not sign up for the $30 VGC chat online, but they gave it to me anyway.

I just had my appointment this morning. The $30 bonus is given in the form of a Visa gift card, and given to you just for making an appointment and talking with a banker.

If you decide to open an account, there are three tiers of checking account promotions (all bonuses require the direct deposit requirement to be met within 60 days of account open):
$100 bonus for opening Virtual Wallet and $500 DD
$300 bonus for opening Virtual Wallet Performance and $2000 DD
$400 bonus for opening Virtual Wallet Performance Select and $5000 DD

Accounts must be opened in-person at this branch to get the promo bonus.

Something I found interesting is the banker told me they normally get 5 inquiries per month because of this promo; yesterday around 1:00 pm, though, looks like they got 40 hits within a half hour. I guess that’d be the “DoC Bump” haha. Apparently, most of those appointments were made for Saturday, because the banker said they were preparing to get slammed.

As you went in the person I spoke with on the phone made it sound like the DD was per month.

So do I 60 days to get 5k in dd done or is it monthly?

I was told it had to be met within 60 days of account open. I specifically asked that question, and my banker confirmed it was 60 days for the promo.

If you decide to get this offer, I would confirm it in-person yourself just to be certain.

I feel bad. I just realized I didn’t make a food recommendation and robbed anyone of a pretty good meal that has already gone.

Firebirds is at the front of the plaza.

Happy Hour Mod-Fri 4 to 7 and Sat & Sun 1 to 5
Double Diamond Martni $5 – Pineapple soaked in vodka for 30 days. Great.
Pretzels and Beer Cheese – $5 – Awesome pretzel and usually the cheese is right on.
Steak Trio – Small sirloins (2oz ea?) 3 sauces – $?i forgot but cheap.

If you want dinner

They have really good (danish, small and tender) baby back ribs.
Prime Rib

Ok I feel better now even though this is technically off topic.

This offer may be available at all newly opened PNC branches.

I changed the town in the original URL to mine, and this offer came up:

This branch in Kennesaw, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, opened in late January, so it’s worth trying this trick for any new branches.

The bankers actually didn’t know about the offer & had to call district manager for the offer code. They wouldn’t share it with me, but after a long wait, eventually found it in the computer. This is only available through the end of April.

It’s the exact same requirements as the current $300 promotion.

At this branch, the $30 offer is an eGift card from major national stores & restaurants. I submitted my information online, but the banker didn’t need it. You get the eGift card instantly at the end of the visit, or the banker can select the retailer for you & print out the certificate.
I chose Target, and it’s already been spent!

Is this dead? Direct link to offer showing $300 bonus now for me.

Looks like it. I guess they pulled the offer early, the original expiration date was scheduled for April 30th.

Yes, I went to the branch yesterday. The banker told me the offer changed to $300 yesterday.

I had no issues opening with higher bonus end of day yesterday. I could also hear the banker next door barging to someone of the street about the increased bonus only available in their branch.

I did have an appointment already set from for Friday that was made on Apr. 6.

Noooo did I miss out on this??

Went in yesterday and got it.

Rep in my town was clueless about everything. PNC sucks as much as Santander reps

Update 4/26/17:

Went in today and signed up. Got the $400 / $30 offer, and said my wife, who also did this referred me, she gets an additional $25 for the referral.

Had to sign up and demo online banking. I put $5000 in the account to start since that negates any fees while I’m doing the debit transactions and DD.

Just had to say I saw the $400 offer and so and so referred me.
