Tomorrow Marriott’s annual award category change will be occurring, in total there are 797 properties that will be changing award levels. If you book before this change, you’ll be locked into old rate regardless of when the stay actually occurs (and you can book up to 50 weeks in advance). Today is also supposed to be the first day that cash + points will be an option, so you might be able to book with cash + points at the old award levels for today only.
The majority of the properties going up in price are located in the United States (94%), while a much higher portion of those going down a category are for properties outside the United States (36%) [Stats via View From The Wing]. Marriott hasn’t introduced any new award tiers, with category 9 still being the most expensive at 45,000 points per night.
