PSA: Wells Fargo Propel World Airline Benefit & Charges Over $100

The Wells Fargo Propel World’s $100 airline benefit is a nice bonus. For those looking to use the airline benefit on organic charges, there’s an important – if niche – consideration highlighted below (you can read the full terms here).

Wells Fargo Airline Benefit Statement Credit Terms

I recently ran into this when buying a first class upgrade, and a short phone call later I had my credit applied. Consider this a good example of why you should always read the terms!

I can confirm this is still the case–had an MCE charge on AA for $112 that didn’t auto fire. Called in and got the $100 credit applied cheerfully.

Related to this same Wells Fargo card, but a little off topic:I read elsewhere that Go Far Rewards points can be redeemed at 1.5 cpp when using their portal to purchase airfare. However, when I checked today, all airfare and hotel results showed cash prices that matched a rate of 1 cpp. Am I perhaps doing something wrong?

I also saw that but I never got more than 1c/point value. I vaguely remember that it was tied to some WFargo relationship level or some spending level. I must not have met that requirement.

Flexperks are 1.5cpp or 2cpp (perhaps it was 2cpp and is not 1.5cpp?), however, Go Far Rewards from the Propel World have always been 1cpp. There is a relationship bonus of up to 50% on unbonused spend (making your 1x purchased effectively 1.5x), however, this doesn’t make your redemptions worth more than 1cpp, you just earn a few more points on your spend. Since I only have a checking account with WF, I’d only get a 10% relationship on unbonused spend, and, come to think of it, I might not actually be eligible because I think it says you need a checking *and* and savings account to qualify for the 10% relationship bonus.

I forgot to mention that the points earned on the Wells Fargo Rewards card might be redeemable at 1.5cpp, however, the points from the Propel World are worth 1cpp. I meant to say this earlier, but instead I confused USBank Flexperks with Wells Fargo Rewards (an easy mistake to make considering they’re both 1.5cpp for redemptions).

MPX worked end of June but there are probably DP’s already about this.

If i buy something from the airline duty free.. does that qualify too?
This is a generic question and not necessarily related to WF. Can the $100 yearly travel credit be used against any duty free purchases made in flight?

Depends on the travel credit and what qualifies, it would work for the Chase Sapphire Reserve I imagine. Other cards not sure. Would code as an inflight purchase similar/same as buying a snack I think
