[DEAD – Update] Rebatesme Portal: Get 5% Back On $200 Visa Gift Cards From Staples.com

Update 5/29/20: Rebatesme sent out the following e-mail:

As you know, we had an offer on our Staples page that indicated that there may be a 5% Cash Back Rate on $200 Visa Gift Cards. While normally, the rate on offers always shows the potential highest Cash Cack rate and not necessarily what you will earn, we understand that this was a confusing and misleading message. While we did take it down once we realized it’s nature, as a member you would expect us to honor at least some of that deal.

We will be adding an order subsidy to your account in the amount that your Cash Back rate should have been. Please allow us 3 business days to add that to your account.

Update 2: it’s now been removed.

Update/Warning: A reader notes that they ran this a month ago and never paid out.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer | Signup for Rebatesme & get $5  (these contain my referral link)

  • Rebatesme is offering 5% back on the purchase of $200 Visa gift cards from Staples.com

The Fine Print

  • Expires in 10 days

Our Verdict

Generous offer, seems like you can buy unlimited amounts of $200 Visa gift cards and get 5% back by clicking through the portal. It’s a $3.05 moneymaker per card if you have a fee-free way to unload these; plus you can use your INK Cash/Plus card for 5x.

If you are new to the portal, you’ll also get $5 signup bonus when you earn $10 in cashback (which will happen with a single Visa gift card purchase).

It’s quite surprising that Staples would pay out a 5% on Visa gift cards; hopefully this pays out without a hitch.

Hmmm….. in your post, you mentioned, if…. “fee-free way to unload these.”

Curious, anybody able to share a hint or some clarity on what that might be?

There’s trillions of pages on the internet and plenty of search engines.

I jumped on the offer and bought 5x $200 gift cards. I wasn’t expecting it to pay out but needed to meet min. spend on a card anyway. Then I received this e-mail this morning that rebatesme.com is going to honor their offer. Very cool of them!

Same here. I see my order did track but showing $0. I don’t expect this ever to pay out. But, it was worth a shot.

Today, rebatesme sent me an email notify me that they will not pay out for the VGC’s. I hope those who were told that they would get it truly do.

I have never used this cashback portal before, just the usuals like ebates and topcashback. Would you recommend to use them in general though I am hesitant since people have commented that they haven’t paid out? Also, I saw on another blog (hustlermoneyblog) that there’s a $10 sign-on bonus using their referral link so which is it $5 or $10? The other blog had a review that was a little sketchy with typos etc. so I would rather go with DoC in general since you guys are more trustworthy. Just hesitant in trying a new portal since I recently got burned by coupon cactus (Though they made it right by fixing the error) so I’m a little hesitant about trying new ones.

It works more or less like the rest. But since they all requirement minimum payout, the more you dilute your shopping among all the portals, the longer it’ll take you to reach that minimum.
I think my mentality is that these portals are hit and miss and treat the bonus as extra so it’s not so emotionally taxing when they don’t work out.

Thanks! Combined with 2% back Dosh and 10% back AmexOffer, I’ve been waiting for that for a month.

I guess many people fell for it but the “coupon” is now removed. I too believe that they just randomly posted most popular items purchased in the past there. The 5% Cash Back is only for the stated categories and yes, general T&C still apply to all categories. I was very skeptical when they listed a specific laptop with 5% cash back even though computers are always NO cash back at most sites even with Staples own coupons.

If it seems too good to be true… Hard pass for me. I have no problem paying a small fee on legit VGC purchased in person.

Exactly. Sketchy site, great deal… no thanks, not worth the risk.
