- Hy-Vee investigating if customer payment data was exposed at fuel pumps, other locations by USA Today
- Capital One Cyber Staff Raised Concerns Before Hack by WSJ. Not surprised.
- Report: 700k Choice Hotels customer records leaked by Compari Tech.
- American Begrudgingly Refunds Checked Bag Fees for Lost Luggage – But Only for Canada Passengers by VFTW. Seems ridiculous that American Airlines doesn’t just refund this fee as standard. If you’re flying within the U.S. and this happens you should be able to file a chargeback with your credit card issuer as AA never provided the service you paid for but not sure if AA would then go after your loyalty account.

The problem with chargebacks is that the vendor will just claim you still owe them money then. As someone noted below, they were banned from Uber because Uber claims they owe them money post-chargeback
In regards of the AA chargeback, I had a somewhat similar issue with Uber. Took a trip and the Uber app provided wrong destination to be dropped off (I did accurately input where I want to go). The driver tried to remediate the issue but ultimately dropped me 3 miles away from my destination. I messaged Uber to partially refund me. Eventually they thanked me and said that they will fix their app, no refund issued. I disputed the charge with my credit card which resulted in my favor. Now my Uber account is blocked because they claim I owe them money and can’t use it until I pay for the disputed charge.
It’s a clear sign you should use Lyft instead. I once took an Uberpool and arrived at my destination 15 minutes past Uber’s own “not later than” time. Messaged and asked for partial refund, was politely told to go pound sand. That was the last straw, switched to Lyft and never looked back. Funnily enough I also experienced the same issue with Lyft a while later. So I messaged support, and they responded within 10 minutes offering an apology and a full refund. Day and night difference.
I’ve been using Lyft ever since. The experience is so much better.
Plethora of reasons to avoid AA metal, unless your hostage to AA because your home airport offers few other choices.
An anchient fleet of old planes that need lots of service and maintenance, and so the Corp sue’s mechanics union because old planes need too much work to fly safely but – fixing and pulling planes that have safety issues ” not mechanics Jobs” per management. So AA also wants to say to bad baggage fees non-refundable as well.
AA picking too many fights with too many groups -eventually they will have to pay the Piper.
