Before the trolls wake up, I’d like to point out that New Zealand and Taiwan have been mandating hotel and home quarantines for the better part of a year for travelers from ALL countries. The rest of the world is late to the party, as usual.

Limiting hotel quarantines to travelers from only blacklisted countries is about as effective as trying to screen for infections using thermometers, especially since variants have already spread to every populated continent.

Agreed. Blacklisting countries is the politicians’ way of appearing to do something without upsetting anyone they deem relevant. The US should’ve learned a year ago with the China ban and the massive covid spread from Europe.

At this point majority of the things done is a way of appearing to do something. At the end of the day it limits the spread about as much as doing a rain dance brings on rain.

Same with Singapore. And look where they are now! A close friend of mine says that things are very strict there, but there’s peace of mind that things are under control

US can’t mandate quarntine at a federal level – it’s a Constitutional issue – part of the reason Biden EO was “self-quarantine”.

Quarntine is allowed at a State level based on each states laws.

The US can close all border entry/exit but it’s an all or nothing situation- including the flow of goods/food/people. It’s the only way a US citizen can be prevented entry.
