Student Loand Servicers are the worst
For real. I’ve been sending mine payments to pay down interest while in school and they’ve been holding them for up to 8 months before applying them all at once, probably to maximize the interest I accrue.
Call them and request any additional monthly payment be made to the loan principal. Student loan companies will do what you are describing by default because they can collect more interest. But if you call them they should fix it.
