Report: Wells Fargo Propel World, Annual Fee to be Removed From Card

Reader Schmekel heard from two separate Wells Fargo supervisor/managers that they’ve sent out a letter with the information on the Wells Fargo Propel World card that the annual fee on the card is being removed going forward. No action required on the part of the customer.

We don’t know how long this card will last in its current form (i.e. they might product change everyone to a new card at some point), but at least this would mean no fees for as long as it lasts. Until now, there was a $175 annual fee which was waived only the first cardmember year.

Let us know if you get the letter or verify further.

 Chuck
I applied for the Propel World on April 16 (just before it was closed to new apps), and was finally approved last week.

When my Cardmember Agreement arrived in the mail, it showed “Annual Fee: None”, which surprised me because the banker who helped me apply clearly said that the annual fee of $175 would only be waived in the first year (in which case it should say something along the lines of “Annual Fee: $0 in the first year of card membership, then $175”).

I hope this doesn’t mean that they intend to sunset the card in 2022! Either way, this turns an already good SUB into an excellent one.

Anybody managed to get them to waive it? Mine posted in March…

I haven’t gotten an annual fee the last year. I thought it was strange since November came and went and I never got the Annual fee. I think this has been in effect for a while without Wells Fargo saying anything.

Does Wells Fargo even have the technical ability to do product changes??

My understanding is they can’t do customer-initiated product changes, they just close the existing card for you and have you apply for a new one getting a new open date. Which is the same if you closed the card yourself and applied for a new card without their assistance.

“I am not even a Wells Fargo customer, but the outrage bandwagon is too tempting not to jump on. Also, I am a woke expert on corrupt banks.”

Newsflash: They’re all crooked, which is why you should take them for all they’re worth.

It’s only for renewals effective April 26th, 2021 going forward. They just said to enhance the card holder experience the annual fee is being eliminated, no action needs to be done. None of the benefits are changing. And to enjoy this enhanced Propel World card experience.

Wells Fargo Propel World:
P1 called on 4/24/21 and was told that there was no annual fee on the card.
P2 called on 4/25/21 and was told that the fee is still $175…(but waived the first year)

NOTE:
P1 applied 3/22/21 & P2 applied 4/13/21. Both instantly approved.

Just closed the account 2 days ago. Weird that I talked to 2 CSRs regarding annual fee being too high and neither of them mentioned this

“I don’t even have a Propel card, but I need to be outraged at Wells Fargo for a completely unrelated reason. I also think my red herring comments are hilariously snarky.”

I thought this was a card to cancel or product change after the initial year. Why would anyone have kept it?
