Our Verdict
Deal is really only useful if you have a card that earns at a high rate on office supply stores. You might also be able to take advantage of the following deals:

There is also a retailmenot offer that excludes gift card purchases, but it has been working on those purchases anyway. The limit of 3 is applied at the order level rather than the account level, but I’d recommend against making multiple orders to bypass this limit (from memory it just leads to all of your orders being cancelled).

FYI/DP – I selected “ship to store” on Staples website as I am in the store often and sometimes have trouble with mail delivery at my house. 3 weeks later they still had not arrived at the store so I started making some phone calls. CardChannel (I think) was the fulfiller for these cards. Anyway they don’t ship to store only to your house. But they also don’t call or notify you of that either they just charge your payment method and then don’t ship the cards. Anyway ultimately they refunded my $ and cancelled the order at my request. Took a half hour on the phone of course.
I can report that Retailmenot just paid me $20 for this deal.
Same here. It showed up as illegible so I assumed it was denied but then I looked on my account and saw I had a $20 reward. Between that and the 10% from Amex, I got 2 x $100 MC for $160.
I was going to use my Amex for the 10% but the Amex Offer terms specified $5 total statement credit:
“DETAILS
Get 10% back as a statement credit each time you use your enrolled Card in-store or online at US Office supply stores by 9/17/2018. Limit $5 in total credits. See terms for exclusions.”
Were you cable to get $20 statement credit? Even with the terms saying $5 max? If so I can use this for the latest deal with Office Depot/Office Max.
Anyone having trouble using these on Plastiq? I can add them to Masterpass but when it redirects back to Plastiq, it makes me log in again and the card doesn’t get added. I’ve already tried several times in incognito.
These blackhawk cards are garbage. I bought at Office Depot and couldn’t get them active. Waited an hour before they finally refunded me. I’m on hold now with the customer service. Waited about 30 minutes yesterday where they told me that it would be active in an hour. Didn’t work. Called again and they told me that the card had “pre-activity” on it. Will post again if I can get them activated today.
Anyone still waiting for the activation letter? I got the cards on Saturday and still no letter. Oddly, my order still says processing online though I did get a shipped notification. It says expected delivery 9/4 so maybe the activation letter will be here by then.
Call 877-426-2551 to activate your cards. The phone number on the back of GC did not help at all.

I finally received the activation letter yesterday (Saturday) for my second order. My order date was 8/20.
My activation letter has still not arrived. Has anyone received their activation letter? I called the number on the back of the card and there was no money ever loaded on the card.
I placed 2 orders, one order i received the activation letter so activated with no problem. The other one still waiting for the activation letter. I don’t understand why you would you check for the balance if you haven’t even activated the card.
I called to ask what was going on and that’s when I was told that staples never loaded any $ on the card. I called GCM this morning and the cards were activated. Just had to provide staples order and verify information.

Cards arrived without any value loaded on them. Calling the number on the back of the card was told to call Staples. Staples opened a case and still hasn’t gotten back to me. Unable to activate the cards since the card value is $0.
Call GiftCardMall 877-426-2551, wait on hold for 15 mins, provide staples order #, your name, billing address, and phone. Then card is activated but funds will not load for another 2 hours.
I called that number, waited for 37 minutes (to be exact), two hours later still unable to register card.
Dispute with bank
Just called. Waited about 10 minutes and provided information for the Staples 2 orders. I will follow up if there are any further problems.
They said that the funds should be available in 1 to 2 hours.
Called this morning. Talked with CSR for 10 mins, card was working 2 hours later. Very annoying. I would never buy one of these again.
Called whom? Staples or card services?
My cards arrived with no value loaded on them as well. Did the online chat with Staples and they told me to call Gift Card Mall. Gift Card Mall told me that Staples never loaded a value on them. Back to Staples customer service – closed. Back with online chat, they put in an email to customer service about the issue, probably just like yours, Steve, they “opened a case”. Will follow up and post resolution. Please do the same, Steve, so I know how you got it fixed. Thanks.

Got my activation letter today, had gotten the cards over a week ago. Glad I waited, was much simpler to activate and register all at once. Used the cards right away.
I received my activation code but when I go to giftcardkey.com, it says my card number is invalid. It does not let me move to the activation stage. Any ideas on how to get past this issue? Thanks.
You need to enter the number on the back of the card, not the card number. It’s located on the top right of the barcode. There should be an image that illustrates where. I did the same thing.
Do these cash out easily at WMT or will they require the hit-the-cancel-button technique?
