[Expired] [Business Cards] AmEx Offer: 10% Back At Staples, $100 Limit

This offer has now expired, view more American Express offers by clicking here.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Spend up to $1,000 in one or more transactions online or in-store at Staples and get 10% back in statement credits.

The Fine Print

  • Limit of $100 in total statement credits per American Express Card Member.
  • Expires November 30, 2018.
  • Excludes Quill, Smilemaker, Staples Business Advantage, Staples 4 Government, Staples Toner Services, Staples Technology Solutions, Staples Promotional Products, Staples Print Solutions, Copy and Printing Services, Staples Contract and Commercial, Staples App Center, Staples Industrial, Staples Book Rental, Staples Simplexity, Staples Share Fund, Coastwide Labs, Catalog and Staples Fundraising.
  • Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases.

Our Verdict

Seems to only be showing on business cards and not personal cards. Staples frequently has Visa/Mastercard gift cards on sale and these aren’t considered bulk purchases so they should qualify without any issue. Staples also sells third party gift cards as well so that is also an option. Interesting to also see them launch this offer so early, usually we get a deal later in the year going into the busy shopping period. This should let more people max out the offer without any issue. I’d save this to your cards quickly, because it will get pulled soon due to reaching the enrollment limit.

I also see 10% back at Exxon and varying numbers of Fedex credits (between 5-25% back)

I also got 25% cashback at Fedex up to $1000. Do you know any gift cards sold at Fedex?

Got it on all my business cards, thanks!

At this point I feel like I have 10% off everywhere. I don’t know what to do with these anymore as I’m too lazy for MS-ing

You have 6 months to use this promo.
So, buy one $500 worth of GCs every two months especially when Staples runs a promotion.

Got this and Exxon on my SPG Biz.

Would like to start seeing DPs of how many GCs people can get before I start buying them. Thankfully long time frame before expiration.

Got this and a few others. One that hasn’t been mentioned is Dell Get 10% back as a statement credit each time you use your enrolled Business Card on eligible purchases online at Dell.com/amex by 11/30/18. Limit $1500 in total statement credits. See terms and exclusions.

Is there any risk in using this offer to buy $300 VGCs off Staples.com? It isn’t excluded under the terms so I assume its fine.

AMEX does pull Level 3 Data (i.e. they can see the full receipt itemized).

I don’t MS on AMEX but If I recall it’s mostly an issue for meeting MSR.

Regarding the enrollment limit, once you add to your card are you good until the expiration date? Or will they pull the offer even if loaded once a certain amount of people redeem? I’d like to wait until another fee-free gc promotion if possible.

Yes, you are good as long as you added the offer.

Will this (Staples Amex Offer for 10% Back) stack with SimplyCash Business Card’s 5% Cask Back at U.S. office supply stores??

Chuck

Yes, that should work

Will the purchase of gift cards at staples still get the extra 5% back on the SimplyCash? I heard that Amex gets level 3 data on what your purchase.

DP: Purchased 3x$300 VGC on Staples.com on 6/12/18 with my SimplyCash card, received 10% statement credit for the Amex offer, but preview of new version of website showing only 1% rewards, not 5%.

so buying $1200 worth of visas on staples.com won’t count as “bulk purchases” ? has anyone already confirmed this?

“Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases.”

How is that defined by Amex?

Would 3-5 gift cards be considered bulk?

Very thankful my previously banned Amex account is no longer banned and I certainly don’t want to ruin it over a couple hundred bucks.

Got the Dell and Staples offers… Exxon would have been great… not complaining at all. I’ve always wondered why an offer appeared one minute then gone the next… maximum number hit is my answer… thanks Doc… may God bless you for all you do for us!!

I was looking to buy a few Groupon gift cards on Staples.com. No MS. You guys think that would qualify for the 10%?

If I added this offer to two cards on same account (primary and authorized user) will it give 10% back to each card? I know other offers seem to work that way but wondering if anyone knows for sure?

First of all I would like to say thanks Chuck for my 6 SB’s (Swagbucks) that you just gave me when searching for your site on SB’s.
Next I would like to ask if I would still be eligible for the 10% if my order was done on the landline? I ordered online (my acct) in my daughter’s name (AU). The order was still processing past 24 hrs and I had to contact Staples. The rep charged me an extra $3.37 (tax) after asking some tax exempt questions (not currently owning any type of business). The rep also claimed that she was reordering for me b/c the site was having problems (what was written on my forehead that she could see through the landline I will never know) but I had to accept reordering then b/c I had found a $25 off $75 for my Epson ink order and didn’t want to lose it (just dealing w/ reality).
The question(s) here as well is if I had continued to just use my name would I have had this problem? Is it best to open accounts in my S/O and daughter’s name (don’t really want to do this)?

Original Price: $79.99 Epson 4-pack Extra Ultra ink
Total Price: $57.55 after tax adjustment ($54.29 beforehand)

I’m purchasing 1x $300’s on 9 diff AMEX cards with 3 different cardholders who share same billing address.. 2 of the first batch of 9 processed and shipped (and triggered the 10%). However, all subsequent transactions went to pending, stayed pending for 2 bus days, then rolled off of pending without posting.. Meanwhile, Staples order management system shows as “processing”. Presumably, Staples is cancelling the orders, notifying the card issuer yet is not updating the order # status to show as cancelled. Monitoring…

bax

Yes, Staples is cancelling those other orders. That’s exactly what it did with its price mistakes on back-to-back Sundays a few weeks ago.

mileshusband

I just received 9 emails confirming respective gc orders have shipped. Staples.com order status =”Processing”. Pending CC charges have not reappeared and have not posted. I suspect there is a real velocity ceiling for approvals that is tied to billing address (or Staples rewards number derived from the CC account presumably, since I avoid logging in). I suspect(?) that allowing the order to progress through “Shipped” status in the staples order management system resets the velocity to 0 for a given billing address. I’ll report back with DP.
