Our Verdict

Hulu offers a free 30-day trial for new members. The Swagbucks terms are clear that you can cancel after 8-days and still get the credit. Terms are also clear that the Swag deal will work for new or returning subscribers. Note, however, that returning subscribers might not get the free 30-days from Hulu.

Most Swagbucks offers come through properly, although some people have had issues. Lots of people are getting the 1300 instantly, but some are not. In any case, this offer has no money risk so no downside in signing up and cancelling between day 9 and day 30 to get the free $13.

You can even keep the Hulu subscription free by paying with your registered Amex card to get $25 off $25 on Hulu. Note, that offer expires on 2/4/17, and it might not be easy to meet the $25 threshold by then. If you are in a state that charges tax on Hulu, you can get 2-months of the $11.99 plan and it might meet the $25 threshold after taxes. First charge will be at the end of December and second one will be at end of January – all within allowed timeframe.

An alternative is to use your BofA Bank Amerideals offer of $7.99 back at Hulu if you have that.

If you are signing up for a new Swagbucks account, I’d appreciate if you use my Swagbucks referral link. You should also get a $3 bonus at the end of the month for using a referral link.

The monthly fee was charged into my credit card. I asked a Hulu CSR and this is from their chat.

“From what I see here, the reason you were charged was because of the offer that you accepted through your mobile device. You signed up for our service through a 3rd party gaming app. The app shows that you’re receiving an offer in exchange for being charged for service.”

So no 30-day trial. You can still make $5 though if you cancel after the first month or you can persuade the Hulu representative to cancel after 8th day and give you full refund.

Just did this, I didn’t see language for a free trial, and I didn’t have an Amex offer on any of my cards. That being said, I did have a BOA deal on an Alaska card that gives me $7.99 back for a purchase of $5 or more. Another work around, hope it helps someone.

Trying to sign up using Discover card, but says “Your credit card appears invalid.” for some reason. Anyone else having this issue?

For purposes of the Amex offer, just wanted to note that if you add Showtime to the premium subscription, that would put the price at $20.98. Then, if you subtract Showtime and do one month of Hulu with commercials, that would be another $7.99 for a total of $28.97. The end result is 3 months of Hulu and one month of Showtime for $3.97

the free trial language wasn’t showing up for me when going to step 2 or 3 but was finally able to sign up and get the points. when you get to the first page after clicking continue, click on the Terms Of Use link. it should not open up a new tab and if it does, try another Terms Of Use link. once you are on the Terms Of Use page, click on start trial at the top right and sign up that way. you should see the free month trial offer while signing up.

Didn’t work for me. Signed up for the free trial, but it’s been 2 hours and still no bonus. Looks like the deal might be dead now?

I just checked that my Swagbucks was deactivated!! Is it one account per household?

No, it’s not one per household but I read that if you tried to open your spouse’s account for example from the same device, your account will be deactivated.

You can have multiple accounts per household, but you need to email them and be ready to upload proof.

Some deals are only once per household though, always read the conditions to make sure you don’t get a clawback.

It Errors out, I can’t get the link probably because I subscribed.
