The Offer
No direct link, targeted offer
- Get a 1x statement credit by using your enrolled card to spend $200+ on room rate and roome charges when you pay for your stay with Hyatt Regency hotels from 4/2/18 until 5/27/18
The Fine Print
- Only valid at locations in the US and US Territories
- Must book direct with Hyatt
- Not valid on gift card purchases or rewards points
Our Verdict
A few little tips:
- If your stay is after 5/27/18 then you should still be able to get the credit, just call in and prepay the rate before 5/27/18
- Gift cards are excluded, but usually if the front desk sells them then it will trigger the offer as well
Unfortunately this offer seems to be highly targeted and most people don’t have it. Fingers crossed American Express rolls this out to more cardmembers at a later date.

Any latest data points on gift cards triggering?
Tried again today with a different card at a HR location that previously worked for a $200 GC on 4/7 (received email immediately or same day and credit on 4/8).
Didn’t get an email today, but the pending charge doesn’t look any different than the 4/7 one. I don’t get emails on some purchases for other Amex offers and the credit still posts.
KC Chan’s post above on 5/5 says it didn’t work later on the same location like mine, but that post isn’t clear that it is a different card. Maybe the $200 charges aren’t crediting for some reason, and I guess I could have tried an amount like $201.53 so it doesn’t look like a GC. But if I had a real stay for $400+, I would have made multiple $200 payments anyway, on different cards with the offer.
I’ll post again in a few days, hopefully after the credit posts.
Charge posted 5/18, no email, no credit and offer still shows available and not in the savings. There’s no sign of a gift card in the charge details, just says “Category: Travel – Lodging”.
I’ll give it a few weeks and then maybe ask Amex about it. Not going to get another one unless I see anyone else was successful.
Yeah this really sucks… I think maybe Hyatt is sending level 3 data.
Now there is a similar offer for JW Marriott. Get $40 off $200

Anyone have any luck buying GC’s at a front desk?
In case anyone is still looking as to whether the purchase of GC works, as it did in the past, the answer appears (don’t want to speak for all locations) to be a ‘yes’. This is based on the purchase of a single $200 gc in NJ today (4/21). The ‘…You just used…’ message from Amex took an hour to show up, so I was slightly worried for an hour.
has the credit posted now?
$60 credit for the above transaction did post. However, I tried 2 more transactions this week, at the same location, and after 3 days..still .no congrats email or credit. I would not suggest purchasing GC for this offer…definitely ymmv.
Any updates?
200/60 Hyatt on BCE; none on BGR or SPG personal.
You can’t expect SPG to allow other chains offers on their card!
Wow, four. They must love amerprise…both on platinum and gold. Not on reg or biz platinum, but on old blue and prg
better than no offer, but regencys are ridiculous with parking fees and resort fees that eat up the $60. i guess it just depends. YMMV.
Fair concern. There are some though (like around Dulles & DC) that charge neither. But I want to know how certain sources are propounding that gift cards will count towards such amex hotel offers — IF BOUGHT AT THE FRONT DESK. (and never mind the explicit language in the Amex offer saying gc purchases won’t count.)
1/2 got this on my prg
got it on the BCP and BCE
0/11 for me…
nice offer. It is on my BCE and my au card to my wife’s BCP.
