[Targeted] Capital One Spark Cash Visa For Business Card $1,000 Sign Up Bonus

The Offer

Targeted offer, no direct link

  • Receive a sign up bonus of $1,000 after $10,000 in spend within the first three months on the Spark Cash Visa for Business Card from Capital One

Card Details

  • Card earns 2% cash back on all purchases
  • Annual fee of $59 is waived first year
  • No foreign transaction fees

Our Verdict

Public bonus has been $500 for a long time. The big downside to Capital One is that they pull all three credit bureaus when you apply for one of their cards. You should be able to apply for this and other Capital One cards in the same day and get the inquiries merged. You can read more about Capital One cards here. Even if you just apply for this card in isolation I think it’s worth it, basically works out to be $1,200 for $10,000 in spend or $400 per inquiry. Shame it’s a targeted offer.

Husband was targeted and approved (instant message said they’d tell me in 7-10 days; I waited a few days, then called and they said he was already approved). No frozen credit yet (waiting to do a few more apps). No prior relationship with CO, though hubby and I have been getting regular mail offers for years.

Have 2 questions here.
Have been a long time Cap One customer (business and personal checking plus Spark Business card).
Is there a way to call them or any other method to see if I’m targeted prior to applying for it?

Have thought of moving away from Cap One to another bank for most of my business and personal checking and doing away with the Spark card. Do like their online banking interface for checking though that allows easy automatic payments, transfer of funds and no fees.
Any suggestions for other banks that are better? This would be for long term online banking for most of my business where I’m not just setting up an account to get a bonus. Am based in Texas.

Is there a way to check if you’re targeted?

I have Spark business checking, but I’m away from my mailbox.

Has capital one ever offered a bonus for opening a business account? If not, I’d like to try opening one now in hopes of getting targeted for this offer. Anyone have any relevant information regarding this? Thanks

Bad advice??? I was approved just days ago, after doing just that.

Freeze your Experian credit report before applying, and they’ll only pull Equifax and Transunion.

Bad advice. This no longer flies. And cap one does not do recon.

Have heard of very few who’ve actually been targeted, at least of those who would mention in forums. Rare offer. Recently got denied for this card (public offer) when applying due to “too many accounts opened recently”. They’ve been getting stricter, as I haven’t had that many new cards opened compared to other years when I had been approved by Cap 1.
