[Expired] [Targeted] PayPal: Free $10

Deal has ended, view more PayPal deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Direct link to offer, targeted offer sent out via e-mail. Subject line is ‘Claim your $10 Reward’ or ‘Get $10 in just a few clicks’

  • PayPal is offering some members $10 when they are one of the first 90,000 to claim the reward

The Fine Print

  • “Eligible Participant”: Open only to residents of any one (1) of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia who: (1) are eighteen (18) years of age or older; (2) are holders of a U.S PayPal account in good standing or create a U.S. personal PayPal (including PayPal, PayPal Cash and PayPal Cash Plus) (“Valid Account”) during the Offer Period (defined below); and (4) receive an authorized invitation to participate in the offer (eligibility for/those who receive such invitation will be determined solely by PayPal, a PayPal service).
  • Offer Period: Starts at 12:00 a.m Eastern Time (“ET”) on October 20, 2020 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on November 15, 2020 (“Offer Period”).
  • How it works: To qualify for the Reward, Eligible Participants must click through the offer link associated with this Offer and claim the Reward. Offer may require Eligible Participants to sign in to their Valid Account.
  • “Reward”: The $10 USD will be viewable in the Eligible Participant’s Valid Account within approximately twenty-four (24) hours. Only 90,000 Rewards are available during the Offer Period; Rewards will no longer be awarded once the limit is reached. There is a limit of one (1) Reward per Valid Account. You need to have a PayPal Cash, PayPal Cash Plus, or business PayPal account to have a balance. If you do not have one of those accounts, you can only transfer your Reward to your bank account or debit card linked to PayPal.

Our Verdict

Some concern on Slickdeals that this is a phishing e-mail, but the direct link provided is on the PayPal domain so as long as you double check that you should be fine. Not sure how many people this was sent to, but can see it quickly hitting the 90,000 person cap if it was a lot.

I received the email with this $10 offer to use PayPal once again 5 days ago. I clicked on the link and I logged in after changing my password because it had been so long and I couldn’t remember what it was. after 3 days the $10 has been credited to the PayPal account however it seems to be a new account in some ways, let me explain it is giving me the option to have the $10 sent to my bank account by linking a debit card or I can get a PayPal cash card. I already have a PayPal cash card and it seems as though the site does not recognize that that is true and the only option to get the $10 is to link a debit card to my bank account. Something within me said that this was not right so I called and checked the PayPal cash card that I have and it has a zero balance. I will not be linking my bank account at all as something just staying right about this especially seeing here that the offer was supposed to have expired days before I got the email and was eligible and received the $10, it just ain’t worth it! I received a follow-up email yesterday to say that the $10 was in the account and what do you want to do with it? it still is asking me to apply for a PayPal cash card that I already have that it doesn’t recognize or to link my bank through a debit card. I’m not sure how they doing it but they are doing it and they are slick and this is a scam and if you link your debit card and have a transfer to your bank it’ll be the end of you!!

I also had the same email…I was online with the customer service and he said it wasn’t from PayPal! The 10 dollar credit! Soooo it was a scam. Be careful. I sent pics saying it was from “Paypal”. The customer service guy was really nice and said for my troubles they would send me the 10 dollar courtesy. It took a bit to receive it but I did.

I didn’t receive my credit so I contacted PayPal via chat at the end of October and they told me that they’d resolve it by November 7th. November 7th came around and they still didn’t contact me with a resolution. I contacted them again with the ticket number from the initial request and today, they finally credited my account with a $10 voucher to use when I checkout with PayPal.

I am grateful that they honored the promotion, but what a mess! Hopefully, my comment will be useful to other people waiting on their credit.

I also got a $10 voucher after contacting them. Fortunately I only had to do it once. I’ll probably use it to buy a $10 gift card from egifter, since it’s easy and worked when I had $10 the last time.

I asked paypal about the $10 credit and they said it would take 2-10 days to apply. For some reason, they then wanted to call me. Once I talked to them on the phone they said I would not be eligible for the promotion since I was not one of the first 90,000 to redeem. I told them I was since I got the “You will receive your $10 reward in 24-48 hours” and sent them a screenshot.

I then got a email saying

“We are offering you $10.00 USD off your next eligible purchase as a token of our appreciation for your business. This offer must be redeemed by April 30, 2021.

The offer will be automatically applied to your next eligible purchase when you select PayPal to pay. Remember this offer must be redeemed by April 30, 2021. To use this offer, select PayPal to pay at checkout and log in to the PayPal account that received this email. This offer will be reflected on your PayPal receipt or in the transaction details in your PayPal account. You cannot use this offer to pay PayPal transaction fees, and it is subject to the terms and conditions below. ”

in addition, I got the “Your $10 Gift Has Arrived
We’re pleased to let you know that your reward is now available in your account. You can use these funds next time you use PayPal to shop, send money or more.
The PayPal Team”

Looks like the $10 courtesy credit can only be used to pay for things using Paypal while the $10 from this promo can be transferred to a bank account.

I also got this offer and clicked on it but have not received the $10. I had previously gotten the $10 on your next eligible purchase on the same account a few weeks earlier and successfully used that one.

Just tried clicking on this email again and it says that it’s already been redeemed the maximum number of times and is no longer available.

Got the following message when I reached out to PayPal:

Hello there! Thank you for using PayPal messaging. My name is John and I understand that you want to redeem the rewards sent to you via email however, we currently are experiencing an issue in the system that prevents people from receiving the $10.00 credit we intend to provide. Our engineers are already aware of this and are working for an immediate fix although. The estimated time frame on when this issue will be fixed is around November 6, 2020. You can then try claiming the reward again on that day.
Rest assured, I have already included your account in the report to get your account prioritized. The report is under ticket number [redacted].
Please feel free to reply if you have questions and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you again for contacting PayPal and stay safe!

Just got a $10 “credit from PayPal.” It says the transfer was made Oct 26 but I checked late last night and it wasn’t there. I’d keep my hopes if I were you.

It worked for me on an old PayPal account that I don’t use very often – linked cards are closed/expired. I got the email on the 20th – at first it said I was ineligible, but allowed me to click through on the 21st. $10 arrived in my account on 10/23, and today I transferred it to the PayPal acct I use for eBay.

Hey guys, I got the same email on the 20th and nothing too. I did call PayPal Friday and they said the email wasn’t from them, HOWEVER during the same day I called PayPal I got $10 in my PayPal account. I don’t know if it’s from them or not and have been trying to contact customer service.
Two questions:
1) Did anyone else also get $10 and if so, did you accept/transfer it to bank? (If you did, are there any transactions not from you?)
2) Does anyone know if a person can get hacked by accepting money/transferring it to bank?
Thanks!
