Avoiding Fees
U.S bank has three checking products which qualify for this promotion:
- Silver Checking Account
- Gold Checking Account
- Platinum Checking account
Probably the easiest way to keep this fee free is to open the Gold Checking account; if you have a U.S Bank credit card then the monthly fees on this account are waived.
If you don’t have a U.S Bank credit card and aren’t planning on getting one, your best bet is to open the Silver checking account which has of $8.95 ($6.95 if you enroll in paperless statements).
Fee is waived if you do these three things:
- Go paperless
- Open a Package Money Market Savings account
- Do one of these two things:
- Have combined direct deposits totaling $1,000 or more, OR
- Maintain an average monthly balance of $1,500
Our Verdict
Shame this bonus isn’t public, get in the game U.S. Bank! Although to be fair, they recently just had a bonus for $150/$50 that was public so really can’t complain that much. If you did receive this targeted offer then it’s well worth applying for. If it was public we definitely would be adding it to our best checking bonus page.

Just opened the checking account after being targeted earlier this month. Anyone know if I can later open Package Savings + Money Market accounts to fund an additional $500 x2?
I got a targeted offer in the mail for $200 bonus after opening a checking account and direct deposit any amount. I already got $200 for a similar (targeted) offer in May, and I closed that account in the fall. I froze my sagestream and ars reports so I could get the olympics card this past fall, so I had to get in touch with those agencies to temporarily remove the freezes before I applied. I was approved for this checking account and there is credit card funding up to $500 – including amex. There was no language on my previous offer, or this on,e indicating a restriction on how recently I’ve had a US bank checking account. I will let you guys know if I’m denied the bonus, but it seems like they don’t prevent people from signing up for this bonus multiple times a year. With the credit card funding on top, it’s a pretty sweet deal.
Can someone tell me what’s DD (1, 2, 3, 4.)
direct deposit 🙂
Those are links to what has coded as a direct deposit in the past.
Wife received this offer via email a few days ago. She has the FlexPerks CC (olympics promo) but has never had any other CC or bank account with U.S. Bank.
I’ll probably go after this bonus since there isn’t any AF due to having a CC. Plus without any early termination fee it’s that much easier to get the bonus and close it out before the AF on her CC is due.
US Bank offers $100 for $500 in purchases for new cardholders of the Cash+ card right now. Just waiting on mine in the mail. Hopefully this helps others and maybe DoC may notice this and post on it.
US Bank is offering $100 for $500 in purchases in the next 90 days for their Cash+ card. Hopefully people find this helpful, as I wait for mine in the mail.
Been available for awhile.
I signed up for a bank acct bonus through US Bank back in July with a targeted offer. My SO has now received his own targeted offer. Will we be disqualified from bonus due to being from the same household w/ the one per household rule?
My family members at the same address have received US Bank bonuses at the same time a few years ago, so I don’t think they have a household rule?
Particularly if you/your SO are targeted…
Not sure, sorry.
how to get “targeted”
Having a U.S. bank card seems to help, but not everybody with one got this offer.
What counts as DD for us bank?

Thank you for this post! I received the offer in the mail a couple days ago and was hesitant to go through with it since I hadn’t heard much chatter online yet. I’ll give it a shot.
I have not had any relationship (banking or CC) with US Bank in over 15 years, so I’m not sure at all why I was targeted. A few months ago I opted back in to junk mail, but otherwise I have no idea why I would have been targeted.
