The Fine Print

  • To receive the $200 cash bonus, use provided promo code within online application or at a Landmark branch location and open any new Landmark Checking Account (“New Account”) with e-statements (valid email address required) and recurring monthly direct deposit. Direct deposit is defined as a minimum of $250 per month in ACH deposits, which may include payroll, pension or government benefit payments, such as Social Security.
  • Landmark will review your New Account 60 days after opening and deposit the $200 cash bonus within 45 days of the review if the direct deposit and e-statement requirements have been met.
  • Accounts closed within the first 6 months will be charged a $200 penalty.
  • Bonus will be reported as interest on a 1099-INT.
  • Not valid with any other offers. Landmark Associates are not eligible.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Our Verdict

Shame that it looks like this needs a targeted code. Looks like you can also open in branch, so that might be a possible way to get around this. We don’t know if it’s a hard or soft pull either. Landmark also has an account that earns 7.5% APY on balances up to $500.

    • Applied and now pending. $99 CC funding per account (so $198 total if you do checking and savings). $35 minimum for checking and $5 minimum for the savings. You have a limited number of attempts at CC funding (3x, I think). So if your CC issuer blocks the funding due to anti-fraud, it'll lock you out of further CC funding and you'll have to do ACH xfer. Just try a different card; don't keep hitting continue.

      Chex unfrozen, but all three major bureaus were frozen; no problem. Didn't even have to answer KBA questions.

  • Called in to ask about the promo code. It's available on mailers only. Hopefully it's just a generic code that everyone uses and someone can drop it in here.

  • @will @chucksithe Just in case this issue is more widespread: I cannot see any new content on my desktop or mobile, the only way to see new post was to add "/amp" to the end of the URL and it shows new posts. This has been happening for over a week now, but usually the normal site "syncs" up, not yesterday nor today.
