So the 50 cent Amazon reloads worked?

Nic

I was told the $400 promotion was over. Said they are no longer honoring (as of October) and removed it from their website although the link to the offer is still working.

William Charles Chuck per above poster, it appears the promotion was pulled/expired. link no longer works for me.

Can confirm. CSR said the promo ended on 9/30, but does reappear a couple times per year

My 90 days are also up and no bonus. I chatted in on the 85th day to confirm I met all the requirements and they said yes. Real DD and 15 Amazon reloads. I took a screenshot of the chat. I bet it posts next week, but I would communicate via live chat so that it’s documented in case CFPB gets involved later.

The banker that opened my account is straight up refusing to honor the promo now saying I did not inform them at account opening that I received the postcard invitation to set my account for monitoring. That’s funny considering I have a secure message by her saying my account was fully funded back in July and specifically mentioned to follow the $400 mailer to ensure that I make the correct amount of purchases once I received my debit card. I just sent them a screenshot of that message. Will see what they would see but I’m about to file CFPB complaint if they are not honoring this.

Just heard back with an apology and another reason why I have not met the requirements yet. I did do the amazon purchases as part of the debit purchase requirement but now I’m told they don’t count. I would need to buy things of everyday lifestyle; gas, grocery, utility bills, etc. So anyone who did amazon reloads beware.

That is really good to know. Do you have time to make those real 15 purchases? I also did 15 amazon, but it has only been a month since I opened the account, I still have time.

I still have time but in all honesty I’m not going to though. I just replied back saying you know it only mentions to do 15 debit transactions and it does not specify what kind. I also said all my shopping is done through amazon which is why i made all my purchases there. I was just told that I may leave the account as it is and my membership will be up for review come the 90 days expiration to see if all requirements are met.

What amount were your reloads? The minimum (50 cents) or did you do higher amounts?

50 cents

Straight from the offer page:
“ *Here’s the scoop on how to qualify for the $400 – be sure to open both the Tether savings and checking accounts. Keep them open at least 90 days, complete 15 debit card transactions (that’s just 5 a month, you do that in a weekend, right?) and set up direct deposit (this ensures you get your paycheck as soon as possible anyway!). There are some restrictions and it’s on approved credit. Earning dividends is easy too! Just be sure to keep the Tether savings and checking accounts open, sign up for eStatements, keep a minimum of $50 in your savings account and make a transfer of at least $50 to the Tether savings account (from Tether checking via electronic transfer) every month to build up that savings balance. New members will pay a $20 membership fee (to become part of the coolest co-op around). Current Horizon checking members, sorry! You don’t qualify for this particular offer. Based on an annual percentage yield (APY) of 1.51%. Rates accurate as of 7/3/20 and subject to change. Stated APY paid on balances up to $15,000 in the Tether savings account.”

I don’t see how anyone could interpret the $50 monthly savings transfer to be part of the $400 offer. It is clearly saying that the $50 savings transfer is for the promotional 1.51% APR on the savings account.

Finished opening the account today – for those of you who have P2’s that don’t like to talk to a rep, it seems there is no way around it for Horizon. The rep was very nice and reminded me that I needed to do 15 debit transactions and I could “go to Walmart on a cloudy day and buy 15 packs of gum and have super fresh breath.”

Called the bank today and was told that in addition to the requirements you listed above, you need to also transfer $50+ from checking into saving every month for the 90 days for the promo to be valid.

TheGreatHambino
TheGreatHambino

The promo they were talking about is the 1.51% promotional APR on the tether savings – not tied to the $400 offer.
