Our Verdict
This is 10,000 miles more than what the public bonuses recently were, Delta no longer have an award chart and Delta miles will again be devalued for travel starting after June 1st, 2016. I don’t have a lot of faith left with Delta (and I didn’t have much to begin with), so if you’re going to sign up for the bonus then using the miles sooner rather than later is recommended – although this holds true for all loyalty programs.
Hat tip to around the world in eighty dollars, who I think was the first to post about this. Apologies if I missed somebody else, just let me know in the comments.
Speaking of American Express cards, friend recently did well to get the Business Gold Rewards Card (the one with the 75k points > 5k spend). Yet was rather surprised on the first bill that he only was given 15 days from the bill date until the due date. (On his personal accounts with Amex — that he’s had for nearly 2 decades, he gets 24 days. With his chase business account cards, he gets 27 days)
So is this Amex 14 days to pay (from billing date) unusual? Or is he being singled out for some reason? (he has an 800+ FICO)
He’s understandably hesitant to call Amex — as he doesn’t want to raise any red flags. (along the lines of why are you asking?) But 14 days — wow, that seems really tight. No?
The Amex Business accounts always show the due at the 15 days but the actual due date is the day before the cycle ends. I had the same concerns when I first had an Amex Business card and when I called, they said the actual date is the day before the cycle ends.
Is there a way to make a “delta purchase” without buying a flight in order to unlock the $50?
Giftcard usually works.
AmEx matched after escalating to supervisor (twice). YMMV.
i recently applied for the applied for the 50,000 offer, will amex match this offer if i call or secure meesage them
You can try, but usually amex doesn’t match.
Follow up–this seems to be a problem with Chrome. I tried using Explorer and had no issues.
60K Points will get you a ipad mini retina 16 gb from delta….apprx 300$ ????????
If I want .005 value for sure, I can apply for a Hilton card. They devalue those faster than skypesos. Oh the choice……………skypesos or Hilton points LOL
Has anyone successfully applied for this? I received the e-mail notification about the Delta Anex Gold card with the 60K mile bonus offer; however, when you fill in page 1 of the application an error message comes up indicating that you need to put in “home city” and “home state” but there are no boxes for this info. All that is available in this regard is “address line 1” and “address line 2”– and putting city and state in those does not work. Obviously it does not deduce your city and state from the zip code. I called Amex and they could not assist as you have to apply for the special offer through the online link. Has anyone successfully gotten past page 1 or is this just a big teaser offer?
I don’t have any Delta points. Since booking award flights is such a pain, are Delta points for hotel stays easier or of some value? Getting at least .01 would be enough for me, providing there is no hassle
